Very nice hotel well maintained with helpfull and friendly staff. Hotel is close to the ski-lift in a very nice town. Not sure about the normal rooms but experienced a very nice renovated room. Food was great with a nice selection of wines. Didnt experience the spa area given no swimming pool but if you want a full experience, reco to book a spa in the Cambrian hotel.
Great staff, always willing to help. Special mention to Ines the evening dinner waitress who went out her way to be friendly, warm and helpful. Also the chef who prepared some beautiful dinner menus.
Sadly, the state of the rooms left much to be desired. Dim, dingy and shabby with a stale aroma. Lacking the basic facilities a modern hotel should have such as a fridge, coffee/ tea making gear, and USB charging points. The last time I saw a plastic shower curtain would have been in the 1970s. That and the dirty yellowed vent in the bathroom churning out stale aromas was a turnoff.
Although the staff are great they seem to vanish between 23.00 and 07.30, really, and if someone needs help; good luck with that.
If you would like a drink from the bar be prepared to wait as the bar staff also double up as receptionist and vice versa.
I was part of a group with the One Traveller company who in my opinion oversell the standard of this hotel. Two stars would be ample.
An easy 5 minute walk from the post bus station.
The property is dated but in mint condition. Large rooms with expansive balconies. Bar and a large sitting area are part of the reception area.
Both the reception and restaurant service was par excellent. Very friendly and was well looked after.
Stayed on half board basis and food exceeded expectations.
Excellent hotel in all ways. The management are so friendly and helpful. My room was large with a fabulous bathroom, balcony and great view of the mountains. The bed was comfortable with a lovely lightweight but warm duvet. Both breakfast and dinner exceeded expectations, dinner especially was amazing quality every night. The ski boot room is heated with plenty space for everyone's skis and boots.
It is a short (100m) walk from the town lift which takes you to the main lift up to the ski area. A further 20m and you are in the main street with ski shops, amazing bakeries and a couple of supermarkets.
Disclaimer: I am a long-time fan of the Steinmattli, having stayed here many times, and it never fails to deliver the perfect experience.
From the moment you arrive, Ralph-Marc and his outstanding team ensure a warm, welcoming stay. The accommodation is both cosy and impeccably clean, offering everything you could possibly need. Its location is simply ideal—tucked in a peaceful area just off the Dorfstrasse, yet only steps away from the mountain lifts and endless hiking trails that make Adelboden such a treasure.
The food offerings at the Steinmattli are nothing short of spectacular, and this year, they somehow managed to exceed my already high expectations. The wellness area is another highlight—relaxing, full of character, and the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring the stunning alpine surroundings.
I couldn't recommend the Steinmattli more highly for anyone seeking a charming, tranquil stay in one of the best parts of Switzerland. I look forward to my next visit.
Lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Just round the corner from the main street of Adelboden which made it convenient for the bakeries and shops but nice and quiet in the evenings. Very nicely appointed rooms with balconies. all the water from the taps was drinkable which was helpful when having to fill up water bottles for the day. Restaurant food was delicious with 4 courses (portions weren't large but quite adequate). Breakfasts had hot and cold choices and plenty of variety. We were part of a walking group and made good use of the ski room to store wet boots etc. The whole area is so beautiful , especially the enormous waterfalls that you can see and hear from the rooms. A great base for a walking holiday and hope to return soon!
The single room was very large.....more the 20 square meters. The bed was rather small for my 1 meter 90 length. The bathroom is large and excellent. My room was on the top floor, giving the ceiling wooden beams and a wonderfully private balcony with great views.
The location is excellent, just off of the main town road and almost next to the lift that takes you down to Oey.
The food in the restaurant is excellent, with varied choices and the restaurant has an excellent view towards the mountains.
I miss the possibility of making tea in the room. The hallways could use a bit of attention......rather sterile. A bit more of a Swiss feel would be great.
If you book your trip during the summer months, busses and gondola's are free. In winter, only the busses. This is huge plus, and very well organized.
We really had a lovely time andvenjoyed every minute.
The service the staff everyone was so kind and friendly and helpful.
The food was great and the salad bar was top.
The vieuw from the restaurant was top.
There is 1 thing. The bed in our room is really ready to be changed.
Stayed here as part of an escorted tour. The location is good as close to town and the food is excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. However the room was very basic and tired. The beds were the worst I have ever slept in. Water in a bottle was provided the first day but once you had drunk it you had to get water from the tap and the glass was never replaced- this is not something I would expect from a 4 star hotel. One person had a room with no socket in it.
Es war alles bestens bis auf das zu kleine und unbequeme Bett im Einzelzimmer und den für heutige Zeiten zu kleinen Fernseher
Nicht Preis/Leistungsfähig
Sehr ungepflegtes Zimmer.
Für dieser Preis sehr sehr Enttäuscht gewesen
