The breakfast here is fantastic, healthy, and energizing - definitely worth including in your stay! The lounge also includes complimentary snacks and beverages during the day and evening, which was a nice touch. The room was clean and quiet, and very nice modern bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall this is a great boutique hotel in central Kyoto.
In the lobby, a helpful book of recommended local restaurants was a great resource. Definitely eat at Kuon udon restaurant a few doors from the hotel - delicious and authentic experience!

Very nice hotel with spacious rooms and well designed bathrooms. Soothing colours and decor. I liked the location as it was a short walk from many points of interest and a subway stop but outside of the tourist zone.
Cute little hotel. Very clean. Nice bathrooms. I LOVED the fact that there was onsite coin laundry. They also had a nice afternoon lounge with some drinks and snacks. Breakfast selection was limited, but freshly prepared.

I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough, it was fantastic!! I stayed with my 2 teens (we know they can be ahem a challenge to delight) and they are raving too! Loads of space, huge well appointed room and bathroom, fabulous lounge which we took full advantage of. Really walkable, delightful staff and breakfast to die for. We will be back for sure!!

The General Kyoto Shijo is the best hotel! This is my second time staying there and it did not disappoint. It is very clean, the staff is friendly and it is close to Nishiki market and lots of other amazing sites in Kyoto.
Great staff and breakfast was wonderful. The neighborhood is just amazing. Plan on returning to Kyoto and staying here again.
We only stayed here for 1 night but it was a pleasure. The staff is so nice and wonderful. They had our room ready as soon as we got here well before check in time. They also honored our “VIP” status and gave us free breakfast for 2. Additionally, the lounge offers free snacks and beverages throughout the day, including alcohol. Overall, we loved it. I highly recommend
Great stay close to great restaurants and station.
We really enjoyed out stay in this hotel. We found it spotlessly clean, with very helpful staff. We stayed in the Japanese Style room on the 4th floor. We found this very comfortable and enjoyed our time there. The location is very good - not right in the heart of the action but withing a short and easy walk. The only slight disappointment was that we were charged $20AUD to leave our luggage there because we arrived 4 hours before check in. We weren't told when we left our luggage there - only when we went to check in. Aside from that, this hotel is recommended.
Lounge access for guests is a great benefit and put it above other hotels.
