We had a really lovely stay at the resort and would absolutely return. The facilities are excellent and everything is beautifully maintained, making it a very easy place to relax and switch off. The rooms are particularly spacious, super clean and well equipped, with everything you need for a comfortable stay.
The afternoon tea service was a highlight—the tea was flowing! Gorgeous presentation, great quality, and attentive service throughout. The cocktails were also fantastic, with a great range of options and consistently well made. Even though the weather wasn’t ideal during our stay, there was still plenty to do, which made a big difference.
Towels and dressing gowns in the room were looking a little "tired", but this didn’t take away from what was otherwise a really enjoyable and relaxing experience in the most beautiful setting. We'll be recommending Castle Martyr to all our friends and colleagues.
The staff were all so warm and welcoming, and we had some lovely interactions throughout our stay.
A few members of the serving team appeared relatively junior, which showed in small details—for example, red wine being served in white wine glasses.
We also noticed that some staff seemed quite reserved; for instance, room service was delivered carefully but with minimal interaction. This may come down to training, but at a five-star resort, I would expect a slightly higher level of confidence, engagement, and attention to detail in service.
The facilities were good, room was big & comfortable. Everywhere was clean.
Staff weren’t very attentive. Also breakfast buffet was great but the food you order ex eggs weren’t good.
Loved the hotel its so calm and cosy, food options could of been a bit better but other than that we enjoyed our stay
