Close to the beach, very lovely people

The owner was very helpful and chill. The location to the best surf spot was a pleasant 15min walk and was not too crowded, mainly friendly locals. The place felt a bit like Bali was back in the early 90s. Great pizza restaurant nearby and other good warungs along the beach. Enjoyed my stay.

Wer es einfach mag und mitten in der Natur sein möchte, ist hier gut aufgehoben. Man lebt bei einer sehr netten Familie auf dem Hof in einer kleinen Holzhütte mit eigenem Badezimmer. Strand ganz nah, der Wirt hat dort eine Pizzeria sowie eine Schildkrötenazfzuchtststion mit Education-Program für die ansässigen Schulen/ Einheimischen. Die Eier wurden dort nämlich gerne verspeist. Frühstück gibt es in der Nähe bei diversen Warungs. Abendessen besser im Ort selbst (2 km entfernt) einnehmen oder bei ihm eine Pizza (sehr gut, aus dem Holzofen) essen. Bei allen Fragen den Wirt ansprechen, er kennt alles und jeden und hilft gerne weiter ( Ausflüge, Transport etc./ Grab existiert dort nur lokal, nicht in die nächsten Städte)

Cubo and his family welcomed us the best way possible in their homestay! They were very helpful, gave us good restaurants recommendations, helped with planning surf lessons, renting a scooter and booking a bus at the end of our stay. The localisation was perfect near the beach, nice warungs, nice coffee place (which also sells good mocktails and the best pizza we had in Asia). Bungalows were simple but the vibe of the place is so nice! We’ll be back!

Chupo was a terrific host and welcomed us with open arms. He organized everything from surfboards to scooter-rental. We were welcomed to partake in the local community, going on turtle-patrol and jam-night at the newly opened café. We are definitely coming back to Pacitan to stay at VH Surf Camp!

Terima kasih banyak for a beautiful stay. Cuboh and Wiwin are welcoming hosts and the surf camp has great vibes. The surfboard options for rent are high quality and the best you can get in the area. Scooter hire was also made easy. The camp is right outside a great surf spot and close to the river mouth. There's also a promenade with restaurants nearby.

Staying at Villa Hembers isn’t just about surfing or escaping into nature—it’s about becoming part of a family. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed not only by the wonderful owners, Cuboh and Wiwin and their children, but also by their circle of family and friends who make this place truly special. Whether it’s life wisdom from Bege, the calm support of Julian, or the contagious energy of Wiwin and Siti, everyone plays a part in making your stay unforgettable.

The atmosphere is uniquely homely—relaxed, nurturing, and full of genuine connection. There’s always someone around to talk to, to guide you, or to simply share a meal with. I arrived with a deep fear of water after a traumatic experience in Portugal, but thanks to Cuboh’s surf lessons and the gentle encouragement from his team, I not only got back on the board, I fell in love with the ocean again.

But the magic doesn’t stop there. One evening, I was invited to a dinner and when I offered to help, I was gently guided by Siti through the cooking process—turning it into an unexpected and delightful “cooking class”. I learned so much and felt genuinely included in something special.

Another day, we walked the beach after sunset, keeping an eye out for turtle nests—part of the small but meaningful conservation efforts that Cuboh and his friends are involved in.

The location is perfect: just a 2-minute walk to the quiet, untouched part of the beach, and only a short ride to the livelier tourist spots if you feel like a change. At night, you’re serenaded by the uninterrupted sounds of nature—no mosques, no traffic, just a wild, beautiful cocoon of chirps and waves.

I came to Villa Hembers alone, hoping to make a shift in my life after a long stretch of career burnout. My partner stayed at home, but I never felt lonely. Not for a moment. This place holds space for you in exactly the way you need it, without even asking.

Great atmosphere, people and place to relax and get away from the city. Incredibly lovely people and a beautiful place to stay.

If you want to live very authentically with inspiring locals, this is the place for you. The host and everyone who stayed here were very friendly. The bedroom is very basic and doesn't offer much comfort, but .... The time of only 3 days seemed extremely long to us and we experienced a lot. Thanks to the tips from the locals, we were not only able to explore a pristine waterfall and go surfing, but also We were able to gain many insights into their everyday lives. . Thank you very much for the wonderful moments in the evening when we exchanged stories and sang.
