Lovely to be so near the sea in a cosy old hotel. Alnmouth is a fabulous unspoilt seaside place.
Pros:

Great position, central to the town. The church bells (church straight across the road) stopped between 10 pm and 7 am so that was good! Superbly fitted out scrupulously clean bedroom and bathroom, massive TV and big comfy bed. We had several walks along the beach and around the estuary - fabulous mudflats, swifts (?or maybe sand martins) and other birds flying all around and wading in the salty marsh areas, wildflowers, grasses. The staff were unobtrusive but efficient and pleasant.

Cons:

A bit more vegetarian choice for breakfast would have been good, the full veggie breakfast was not as full as the full English breakfast!

Lovely place to stay, conveniently located
Pros:

Great location in the centre of Alnmouth, easy to access the beach and the local shops and eateries.
Room was nicely decorated and well maintained, not many signs of wear and tear.
Staff were friendly and helpful. They let us know everything we needed to know (where to eat, the breakfast times…) but also weren’t too obtrusive and let us enjoy our stay in peace.

Cons:

Parking can be challenging at times. We managed to get some free on street parking down on the sea front but expect to have a bit of a walk up to the hotel (a few minutes).
Room was a little bit too warm.
Noise travels a lot, the bar was particularly busy on our first night and the chatter from the bar can be heard from the room. Likewise, we were next to the kitchen so you’re woken in the morning to the kitchen door opening and closing and people coming up and down the stairs.

NIce room , but the external access and parking is the only negative
Pros:

It was a nicely presented room , breakfast was freshly cooked which was nice

Cons:

The room we had was external access to the main pub and breakfast room ,not great if weather poor . No parking, you just have to be lucky if street parking is available in almouth , but given it’s a big attraction hard to find one on

Very convenient for the meetings i was having. clean and well decorated room. Parking difficult.
Pros:

Great breakfast and location brilliant. cosy bar area and friendly staff. Room was very good but a bit pricey especially as on my own. I also didn't realise i had to access the room via outside stairs which i was a bit apprehensive of but staff carried my bags up.

Alnmouth is spectacularly beautiful and peaceful. The Red Lion was comfortable and friendly.
Pros:

The room was delightful and had a great outlook over the local church. The breakfast was delicious, cooked to our order made the previous evening. The dining room was spotlessly clean and the staff very friendly.

Cons:

A minor thought and our personal taste but we would have liked some fresh fruit at breakfast. However the breakfast was otherwise exceptionally good. Public transport to Alnmouth to/from the train station left a lot to be desired but luckily enough we are reasonably fit and able to make the 20 minute walk (albeit with luggage).

Lovely stay but overpriced
Pros:

Great location, staff and breakfast

Cons:

Room way too hot - only way to cool down was by opening the window which meant lots of noise from the street right outside including vans loading/unloading in the early hours directly beneath your bedroom window. For a hotel advertising itself as 5* it did not meet my expectations at all.

We didn’t stay having already paid for our stay. Bring offered a couple of bottles of wine for the inconvenience was ins
Pros:

Decent location but there was a private party going on so nowhere to relax apart from bedroom. The bedroom was nicely decorated.

Cons:

It’s a pub so no separation from any events which may be going on. No staff available to help on day we arrived. Stayed in rooms with pubs before and this was the worse by far.

A lovely and very comfortable pub-with-rooms.
Pros:

We had a very comfortable room, the breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It's in a good spot in the main street in Alnmouth and a short walk to the beach and several good restaurants!

Cons:

The time in which they serve breakfast is very narrow (8.30-9.15), which is understandable in a small place but not conducive to having any lazy holiday mornings.
