Pleasant stay, great breakfast, good value.
Pros:

We stayed in the annexe opposite the main building. The location on the main street of Clovelly is convenient and quiet and a five minute walk from the visitor centre. The room and shared bathrooms were spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable. Pleasant hotel bar with real ale. Breakfast in the main building offered a variety of choices and was the best we had on our trip. This was a cheap stay in an expensive location and was extremely good value.

Cons:

This is a cheap option (half of the price of the other hotel in the village), so don't expect the Ritz. The annexe rooms are small and the decor is a bit tired and you may have to wait for the bathroom if someone is in it. That said, there are other bathrooms on the lower floors and separate wcs. If you stay in the main part of the hotel you pay more and get a better room and an ensuite. Take your pick.

Quirky unique location. Use of the sledges was fun .

Cons:

Very basic room. Restaurant poor, no prices on menu, many dishes and drinks not available, food quality disappointing. The description of “accessible parking” is completely inaccurate!

A well relaxed break with very friendly staff.
Pros:

Breakfast was excellent with a great choice. Paul and Gina made us feel very welcome.

Cons:

Parts of the building need refurbishing but they are aware of this and I am sure it will be dealt with soon.

Friendly and helpful, with the best breakfast ever
Pros:

This hotel isn’t about luxury, it’s about charm and history. We loved the features and the interesting history.
The breakfast room was like going back in time, and enjoying good old fashioned hospitality. The lady who cooked the breakfast would literally cook anything you asked for, in any combination. It was piping hot, on hot plates and honestly the best breakfasts we have all had.
She even cooked sausages for our dogs.
We ate in the bar and enjoyed a lovely evening there too.

Cons:

I thought £20 per dog, per night was a lot to pay when nothing was provided for them.
They did love the sausages at breakfast though

Not a good experience
Pros:

Hotel was coming to the end of the tenancy so there was very little service, apparently some staff had not received wages for a couple of weeks. At breakfast we were told that there was no cooked breakfast to be had so decided to cancel the rest of our stay.

Cons:

Could be a nice place but there was little service

Unglaublich freundliche Bedienstete am Empfang, im Pub und beim Frühstück. Toller Abend mit Live Musik im Pub bei netter Gesellschaft. Gute Lage direkt in Clovelly.

Cons:

Ausstattung der Budget-Zimmer ist wirklich einfach, aber das haben wir ja auch so gebucht :-) Ist okay und schmälert die gute Bewertung nicht!

Pros:

Clovelly is unique and we thoroughly enjoyed stopping here as part of our SW coast walk. We had very friendly service, the room was clean & comfortable and the breakfast delicious.

Fabulous location, quirky and a tad shabby in places but an incredibly dedicated and warm team.
Pros:

Absolutely fabulous, traditional cooked options superb and the range of breakfast options really good. The staff were also very happy to adapt the menu on request…. Such a change from the vast majority of hotels.. this team really cared for all the guests

Cons:

Unfortunately, due to an impending handover of ownership, the evening menu was somewhat limited.
