The location and the staff
The room was small and you could only see the sea when standing in the doorway. The view from within the room and bed was directly towards the bathroom and flat above the pub and we were overlooked by the pub terrace/outside drinkers. The cooked food was good but breakfast was limited with no cereal/fresh fruit or anything but sliced white bread. No fresh coffee or tea on offer - just bags. We were surprised at this given the cost of room/breakfast. We appreciated how hard staff were working and all were helpful and pleasant. Overall though we did not think it good value.
The room (Downderry room) was lovely. Double aspect and spacious. Loved the 2 easy chairs to watch the weather - sadly in our case, mainly rain and wind.
Shower room was clean and nicely done, but to dry yourself in there with the door closed would have been almost impossible. Very snug.
Room was clean and well equipped. Comfortable bed.
Common areas were a bit tired and grubby
Room and location excellent. Staff friendly and helpful.
Went for dinner on the Sunday night and it was pretty disastrous. Ordered meals were suddenly unavailable, very long wait for food and then meals were delivered with long gaps and items such as gravy delivered 20 minutes after food first arrived. There was almost half an hour between first meals arriving in the party of six and the last with the gravy delays on top. Staff were very apologetic and bill was reduced but..
The room was lovely, and the bed really comfortable.
When we arrived after a long day of walking we were told that we needed to be “as quick as you can”, to get ready for dinner, despite it being half an hour before we had a table booked.
Then we were told that they had hardly any food left, what we had was basic and my pie was definitely not home made and my husband’s roast beef was really overcooked. The theme ran into breakfast with both our first choices being unavailable. A couple told us they hadn’t had brown sauce for three days.
Sehr schöne Lage, Zimmer direkt über dem Meer, gute Stimmung und leckeres Essen - eine sehr komfortable Unterkunft während unserer Wanderung auf dem Coast Path.
The views were amazing, lots of parking. Good food when available, excellent for taking your dog. Really good food and meal deals available breakfast was amazing
Booked a double superior room which was tiny and not a full double bed and a tiny bathroom should be advertised as a small double. The room was clean and well presented. No food was available on arrival. They should advertise that you have to pre-book a table.
The room was possibly the best one on the property and the view was lovely, although the opening window was over the beer garden so every noise came through on hot evenings when we had to leave the window open. We were lucky enough to arrive in the middle of a heatwave but the "FAN" provided for the room was to say the least not working as expected.
Room was clean, bathroom was excellent and towels were perfect.
When I arrived I might as well have been ordering a small beer for all the interest I was shown. There was no check-in space and therefore I was treated like every other customer queuing up for a drink. I finally had to announce myself as a customer and only then was I given any attention. We understood prior to arriving that this was a working pub with rooms attached and we have spent time in many properties with the same pedigree but the level of " Dont care" from the staff was very off putting (Small example was at the breakfast table when I asked the girl, after she brought our coffees, if I could have sugar. The girl was actually standing in front of the press which contained the sugar but she proceeded to tell me that the "Sugar is here" and walked away. She was closer to the sugar than myself but could not be bothered to turn around pick it up and drop it on my table. My wife had to get up and get it herself. Not by itself a big deal, but it informed our dealings over the three days) Our final day was marred by the fact that we wanted to leave at 9am. When we arrived we were told breakfast started at 7.30am & finished at 9.30am. On our last day we arrived down from our room at 8am and the doors were locked. after knocking and querying breakfast my wife was told breakfast did not start until 8.30am. She informed the member of staff that she would check with me (AS we had a six hour drive ahead of us) about having breakfast or not. I replied that we should just leave without waiting for breakfast. My wife went to leave the keys back but got no answer whatsoever and she had to leave the keys in the room.
Sehr schöne Lage direkt am Meer, sehr freundliches und aufmerksames Personal, entspannte Atmosphäre.
Auf dem Weg zu den Zimmern alles etwas dreckig und abgenutzt.
Great location and staff were friendly. Also dog friendly which was great.
Room overlooked outside bar area so extremely noisy in the evening (until early hours on Saturday) and service (bar and food) was slow
Nice overlooking the water - this may not apply to all rooms. I had a nice stay, there was a comfortable chair and everything worked as expected.
I had clearly booked a reasonable size room - photo of desk etc. but was initially shown to a room the size of my bathroom at home. You could shimmy your way around the bed and that was it. I had to make a fuss to sort this out - and was moved to the correct room. No apology - blamed it on b.com - which seems odd as the images made it very clear. If I compare with my previous 10 lodgings it was above average but when cost factored in below average.
The location was fantastic, the rooms were super comfortable, with lots of little luxury items provided that we didn't expect. Can't fault the place or the location. Would definitely stop here again if I was in the area.
Staff and food were fantastic. The weather wasn't too good when we visited in May but we can imagine in sunnier times the outside space, views and beach would be fabulous.
Nothing - only have high praise for all the staff.
Really helpful, friendly staff. Lovely room and great toiletries. Dinner and breakfast was extremely good and of a very high standard.
Nothing to dislike.
The room was lovely it was a shame that the curtain were hanging off the hooks though as they were nice curtains
I asked if they had a iron when we arrived but it never arrived so that was disappointing so we had to stay in the same clothes
We had 3 rooms 2 of them where amazing
The staff where amazing and even sang happy birthday to me ect. Food was lush
One of the rooms were small and tight to move around
Geniales Zimmer mit Meerblick beim Aufwachen
Zu lange Wartezeiten beim Frühstück und Abendessen im Pub
