Fairfield by Marriott Taiyuan South

I received a room upgrade to a junior suite which was very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was great to provide beef brisket and potatoes, dumpling, and noodles. This hotel was next to high-speed train station and metro line 1, very convenient to tourist spots in Taiyuan. There was a shopping mall across the street. Staffs were friendly and accommodating.

The Marriott is 5 mins walk from Taiyuan South Railway station- so very conveniently located.
Splendid included breakfast and very the staff are keen to give directions to tourist sites with their limited English but huge hearts.

Large, spacious rooms with warm showers. Internet was fast, breakfast was not bad, and is just 50m from Taiyuan South train station.

The hotel is likely in downhill move, from comparisons between my room and the room pictures of a previous review. My room was the exact opposite of "quiet"or "clean". Right outside the windows was the collection of some huge AC vents of the whole building, piping air noisily day and night, disturbing my sleep. The most horrible thing was that the room was not cleaned thoroughly. From down one of the two trash cans flew black water; the other trash can was so grimy with sticky black or brown masses. What's more, the toilet was not cleaned, I'm not sure for how long, because the yellow "mass" didn't even come off after the first cleaning trial when the cleaning lady was called in. The front desk didn't offer a change of room when I first reported these issues; in fact, one lady was a little exasperated when I asked for extra disinfecting wipes, her reason being that I didn't report these all at once. I admit I didn't find these issues all at once. Because (!) , who could imagine a room of such horrible conditions can be offered to your guests! Who could imagine such a hotel is a Marriott brand that I trusted and that never disappointed for so many years ! When they did offer a room change, it was almost midnight and these issues had been painfully taken care of. And because my confidence in their housekeeping was destroyed, I didn't think I had the time and energy to supervise another round of cleaning. I tried many times with the management team to reach a reasonable compensation for such astonishingly low-level service. The management team proved to be very considerate of their own purses, meaning the loss of a guest (me) was not of concern when compared to their own purses. In the end, Marriott had to step in to wipe their X. I suggest staying away from this place.

Friendly staff , accepts foreigners, one supermarket right down stairs and within walking distance to Taiyuan South Railway which makes things easy. It is a short taxi ride from the airport and very close to buses and transportation.
I love how quiet the hotel/rooms are and especially how spaciou it is. In fact, it was so spacious I thought I booked a presidential suite. Very clean with all the necessary amenties and facilities and offered a warm stay during the very rainy days.
Id not hesitate to stay here again.
