Pros:

We are having major difficulty paying the hotel for our room charges. Upon check out, we returned the key, met with the owner who assured us that our charges were settled. We now understand that he was mistaken and is trying to arrange a means of payment. We need to do so with a secured system. Can we pay through booking.com and you can forward the payment to him? Looking forward to hearing from you.

Nice hotel not far from town of Appenzell
Pros:

Our room had a nice balcony on the back side of the hotel so it was quiet, away from the street and train traffic. Large windows let in good outside light. Tasty breakfast delivered to your table (not a buffet: set breakfast is made for all guests). Free parking at hotel. Friendly staff; comfortable bed.

Cons:

Make sure to read carefully any email you get from the hotel telling you how to get into the hotel when no one is there. We arrived late afternoon. I had not seen the directions, no one was there, and it took us awhile to figure out how to enter. You have to enter your country’s phone prefix in front of the phone number provided in a note on the front door to reach the owner.
