Schöne Lage, aber heruntergekommene Unterkunft

Die Gemeinschaftsküche war extrem dreckig, nachts hat der Besitzer betrunken so laut geredet, dass man nicht schlafen konnte, morgens wurden wir dann um 6 Uhr morgens geweckt von der Baustelle nebenan

Hotel qui est plus une auberge de jeunesse. Le propriétaire a été très sympa et nous a très bien accueilli mais le prix est trop élevé pour ce que c'est : chambre petite et basique, mal insonorisée.

Die Zimmer sind geräumig, der Inhaber ist zwischen Dr.Jackel und Mr.Hide am Tag tut er alles und zeigt und hilft aber in der Nacht wenn Mal ein Bisschen klopft für Ruhe ist der doch in meiner Unterkunft und sagt mir wenn ich Jetzt nicht ruhig bin fliege ich raus muss sagen der Mensch ist in diesem Augenblick sehr bedrohlich , möchte diese Erfahrung nicht nochmal teilen.

Für ein paar Tage völlig ok.
Pros:

Tolle Lage, sehr gemütliche Terrasse, sauberes Zimmer.

Cons:

Küche war leider sehr dreckig.
Der Hostelbesitzer mit seinen Aussagen nicht immer zuverlässig. Häufig war er merklich alkoholisiert.

Lovely, rustic hostel on beach road
Pros:

Lovely hostel along quiet road to beach (10 minute walk away). Small supermarket across the road, and a few minutes walk from large supermarket and main road.
We were apprehensive about this hostel based on some old reviews. But that's what they were, old reviews. The place now does not reflect what we had read, we had a lovely time there (Thank you).
Run by Thomas, a top fellow (and pirate) the owner whose bark is worse than his bite! He welcomed us with a fresh cup of coffee and offered lots of local advice, and he even drove us up to the bus stop when we were leaving. His dog, Marley, was a delight (though a working dog more than a pet).
Kept very clean by regular cleaners, including the well stocked kitchen (2 ring gas stovetop, fridge/freezer, microwave, mini oven, coffee maker, juicer, kettle, plenty of pots and pans of various sizes, and lots of crockery and cutlery). Plenty of covered eating and relaxation areas.
Front area always 'manned' and key access to room, so very secure.
Excellent wifi/internet/network throughout.
Small book swap available, and table games to play.
No visible signs of recycling, but we were told the rubbish was separate after collection, for plastic, metal etc. Organic waste was saved for the plants.
We had a very small, but delightful room, on 2nd floor at front, with a large balcony to relax on (rocking chairs provided). Room was well lit, and had a large window, and there were hooks for clothes. Good air-conditioning provided.
Decent sized bathroom, hot water shower, and a plug in the sink that worked.

Cons:

Cash only, but both US$ and colones accepted.
Could do with a bin, and some more shelves in bedroom for storage. No bedside tables or lamps.
Not a great deal of power points.
Light not the best in the bathroom.
