We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Mónica. We booked a sea view room and loved falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves. Our room was basic but comfortable. The bathroom could have done with better ventilation but that was the only downside.
We loved the food here, we eat everything and appreciated the choice. Some of the meats were superb, plenty of salad and veggies and lots of choice for dessert. I don’t think we ate a single thing that we didn’t enjoy.
We didn’t brave the pool but loved the sunbeds overlooking the ocean. The pool bar staff were amazing, the animation team worked hard and although we were some of the few British people there at the time (mostly French and German) we never felt excluded. The drinks were quite strong and I loved the freshly made mojitos made with fresh mint a little bit too much!
The hotel is located about 30 minutes walk from Playa Flamingo which is an easy stroll along the promenade. There is a bus stop 10 minutes walk away which takes you into Playa Blanca for €1.30 (card accepted).
We paid to use the spa, €10 each for 90 minutes. The spa is a little tired and could do with a repaint and freshen up and unfortunately the steam room wasn’t working but on the whole it was reasonable value for money.
We would definitely come back here for a relaxing holiday!
My mum and I have just returned from a 3 day break at the Royal Monica and feel compelled to write a review after our wonderful stay.
This was our first time in Lanzarote and the resort of Playa Blanca was perfect for us - beautiful long promenades for running and walking and the hotel overlooks cove beaches and the sea - exactly what we wanted for a lovely relaxing stay.
On arrival, the reception team were friendly and helpful. We booked a sea view family room (highly recommend) and opened up our balcony doors to sea and hear the sea every day. The hotel and rooms were always cleaned and serviced regularly.
Meal choices were much better than many 4 star AI resorts we have stayed in before including vegetarian options. Always plenty of choices, great mealtimes and staff were always friendly and attentive.
Evening entertainment, like many hotels, can be a little hit and miss but the animation team were friendly and welcoming and worked hard to make sure everyone had fun!
Although the hotel is 3 star, the staff, service, food and location make this closer to a 4 star. Thank you for a lovely relaxing stay. We look forward to returning to Lanzarote and the SBH Royal Monica in the future,
Great hotel. Its a 3 stars hotel but everything was perfect . The location , the staff , the buffet and the room was also really clean . It also has a nice sea view . I didnt use the swimming pool so i cant leave a review of that . The only thing that they need to change IS the juice options for breakfast ( they were not natural and not good quality. But i was really Happy with all the rest. The hotel maybe needs a renovación of some áreas and furniture but the room was confortable and clean .
Really enjoyed our stay here. We found the staff to be helpful and friendly.
The hotel is in a brilliant location, very close to the seafront. A walk of around 30 minutes along the promenade in one direction takes you into Playa Blanca, and in the other direction to the lighthouse, and around the headland. Across the road from the hotel is Montana Roja, and the walk to the start of the climb is around 15 minutes. Well worth the climb to walk around the crater. Lots of buses seem to go from the main road, although we didn't take any.
We booked a room with a sea view, and that was definitely worth the extra payment. We had a large suite with bedroom, living area, bathroom and large balcony. It was, as I see noted in other reviews, a little 'odd' not to have a kettle, as this is common in the UK, even in a bed and breakfast. However, we had read the details of the hotel offer, so knew what to expect.
There is one restaurant, which offers a buffet for all meals. The food was good and plentiful, even for our vegetarian and gluten free diets. There were always plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit dishes available. The pool bar also offered coffee, drinks and snack foods such as pizza and doughnuts.
The pool looked lovely, although it felt a little cool. Lots of sunbeds, and then more sunbeds down by the rocks/ beach. We didn't visit the pool bar in the evening, as we were generally too tired from a day of walking!
Overall, this was an ideal hotel for us, as we really just wanted a base to explore from. The weather in January was cool enough to be able to do that.
Worse hotel experience can’t wait to go home please if you want a nice holiday don’t come here, no kettle in room which I thought very bizarre. People are rude including some staff.
Worse hotel experience ever this hotel should beclassed as 1 star and that's being generous had to buy water no kettle or fridge food cold no English channels on tv was told the to old no quiet drinking place after 9 had to go pool bar entertainment absolutely rubbish
Visited for 4 nights just before Christmas, reading the reviews I was a bit unsure but booked anyway as it was a very reasonable price. The hotel does need upgrading in areas, room was huge, bed was hard but ok to stay in for a few nights, location was brilliant although a fair distance from the main town. Food very average but ok and something for everyone, maybe struggle if you're fussy. We ate out a couple of times which was definitely needed. Even my daughter at 11yrs old said the food was just ok and she is a very good eater. Drinks also ok soft drinks fine, cocktails were cheap mixes, beer decent. Would I visit again... if it was a good price again but wouldnt be bothered about all inclusive.
Para mi gusto perfectas ambas.
Lo único que encontré a faltar es gel en la ducha, todo lo demás perfecto.
We booked this hotel last minute for new year. After ready some reviews I was very sceptical but I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the whole area was.
The rooms are very basic but they were cleaned if you left your green card in the door. The sea rooms are definitely the ones you want to book as the view is beautiful. They are only 1 bedroom with 2 single couch beds in the living area.
The overall look of the hotel is dated and could do with an upgrade especially the front lobby…. The chairs are extremely worn and not nice to look at!
The pool area was clean and there was plenty of sun loungers for the amount of people for the hotel when we were there. The pool itself is FREEZING!! The heated pool was not working and we were told it would be fixed but I didn’t see any attempts? So I don’t know if that’s what they tell people. It’s ok for a quick dip
Plenty of food choices even for a vegetarian and there was always different fish options and meat. The pool bar had the usual pizza and chips which was great for the kids. There were lovely restaurants just a little walk down from the hotel which were very nice.
Transport to the main town was easy to navigate and only 10min walk to the bus stop with buses every half hour.
Staff were friendly and the entertainment was ok. The bar was quick in serving and we enjoyed the drinks.
It’s a quiet hotel and does the job if you’re just there for some sunshine, the loungers by the sea were perfect for relaxing with the sea air.
