Avoid like the plague . . . . except for the soap

Let's be clear . ..  .Hotel Aragos is not a conventional hotel with a concierege, front desk and staff eager to practice their hospitality skills on guests. Rather,  it's the budget annex of a more serious establishment (Hotel La Vigie) used to scam unsuspecting visitors into paying for an 'upgrade' in room quality and and an exorbitantly priced breakfast.  One ignores or otherwise fails to receive their 'welcoming' email wherein it is explained, in a very confusing manner, that check-in happens at Hotel La Vigie.  Otherwise one is left hauling luggage down a very steep slope, avoiding speeding locals, waiting, stunned, as the abominable check-in process unfolds, hauling luggage back up said incline, then back down to check-in, back up the steep street to collect the bags, back down to finally arrive at the room.  In our case, we felt distinctly punished for not aceding to their scam and were given a microscopic room with a view of an ugly hillside on the back of the building that was not even identified with the number on the room key.  This is not hospitality. This is a desperate and ugly capitalist grab for the last few euros of the tourist season.

Pros:

The rooms are small, clean and comfortable. The staff are warm and friendly. The reception and the terrace where they serve breakfast are at another hotel down the hill and around the corner. I must say the view from the terrace is stunning.

Cons:

I like to sleep with the window open. That was a little awkward because of the combination of the shutters and the window. Either too much light or not enough ventilation.

Simple room to stay in Cerbere for reasonable value.
Pros:

The room was as expacted, small, but a good bed, nice shower and very quiet AC. Also the locarion was good for us. The breakfast was excellent and the option to use the terrace of the other hotel was nice as well.

Cons:

As the hotel has no reception, it was not clear what to do when we arrived. Only after we arrived, we received a message to go to another hotel to pick up the key. This information could have been included in the booking confirmation. Also there was no space in the room to put a bag, like a little table or some shelves. This would help to keep the room more organized.
