Please note the following restaurant opening hours:
Monday to Sunday: 12:00 to 14:30 and 18:00 to 21:00

Please note that The Black Dog is closed between 14:30 and 17:00 from Monday until Saturday. Guests will not be able to check-in during this time, unless arranged in advance.

Charming stay - Highly Recommended for families
Pros:

The Black Dog Inn exceeded our expectations!
We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Everything was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and offered a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home.
The breakfast was absolutely delicious, so was dinner we had the night before !
The Room: Spacious, exceptionally comfortable bed , all white linen /bedding ,very clean .It was thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed for our relaxing stay (night) .
The Hospitality: Our hosts were incredible - attentive , friendly and readily available when needed.
Play area: Loved it for my little boy!
Location - great location too,

Lovely staff especially Dawn, the lady who serves breakfast.
We had the family room which which is like a mini apartment.
Lovely bed, sheets deco
Delicious food!
Would definitely stay again highly recommend

Comfortable, spacious room, good breakfast
Pros:

lovely room with two seperate bed rooms, perfect for families. We were three adults and were more than happy to each have our own bed, we only stayed one night but the room is spacious and comfortable enough for longer visits. Bath room clean and recently renovated. Staff very friend both at check-in in the evening and at breakfast.
It was the little touches that showed they were thinking of their guests' comfort such as plain sheets in the drawer and a fan in the room for the current hot weather in the UK. We would gladly stay again.

Noise and light pollution
Pros:

I was in Room Four, an attractive, spacious, clean and comfortable room with sash windows which faced onto the road. Good shower. Attractive breakfast room and good breakfast with friendly service. Fan supplied which was very welcome as the weather was hot. Easy, free parking. Room serviced and bed made every day. Lovely view down the road in the evening sun.

Cons:

The traffic noise was more than expected and went on until midnight - even intermittently all night - and started up again around 6am. The street lights are very bright and the curtains not up to the task of keeping the light out of the room which needs black out blinds. This was made worse by a red, flashing light on the smoke alarm and a green light in a box above the door, the purpose of which was lost on me. The combination of traffic noise and a too-light room meant I didn't sleep well most nights.
Photo of 'free toiletries' included soap but none supplied. Mattress a little lumpy although not yet lumpy enough to be uncomfortable.
Two of the three windows are painted shut, perhaps in an effort to cut out road noise but the room really needs better soundproofing measures than this.

Perfect!
Pros:

King-size bed, nice shower, good people.
There's a beautiful lady named Donna who works there, she's one of them you just want to see again, friendly, welcoming, funny and caring. Thank you, Donna. You are an absolute delight! The people is what makes that place change from your advantage pub inn to a wonderful place you want to visit again.
Bonus: the manager is a star was fan.....10/10 for the black dog in

Overall a very enjoyable experience and I would certainly return!
Pros:

Really welcoming staff who were all exceedingly friendly and helpful. A great variety of very tasty food. On site free parking was a great bonus. Our twin rooms were clean and well maintained with a modern ensuite. A lively location at night with a bar and outdoor beer garden. Childrens play area is also available.

Cons:

Rooms were very warm but that was due to the weather.
