Property Description

A quaint, historic hotel dating back to the 1800s in Castleton, nestled against the Peak District National Park in the Hope Valley, with a connected Vintage Inns pub serving seasonal pub food, real ales and fine wines. This former coaching inn has a beautiful location less than a minute’s walk from Peveril Castle, which you can climb to enjoy breathtaking views over the Hope Valley. Rooms at The Castle by Innkeeper's Collection are traditionally furnished, with some retaining original features.

Pros:

Homely, spacious and clean. I used the quadruple room and the shower was very good, it had a nice rooflight and the heater was nice and warm. Lots of space.

Cozy Castle
Pros:

The room was lovely, and the en suite was great. The staff are friendly and the food delicious. The pub is so nice; we sat by the fire enjoying food and drinks. Perfect.

Pros:

Lovely staff, great location and a nice big room and shower was good. Cosy pub and nice options for ales, beer and wine. We didn't get chance to eat jn the pub.

Cons:

I really didn't find the beds very comfortable. The main bed had a mattress which we found very hard and the sofa bed was incredibly uncomfortable. My children moaned a lot and this made it less of an enjoyable stay than it could have been.

Fantastic!
Pros:

Beautiful traditional stone building, cosy pub, warm and staff very friendly. Parking available, room has a bath and location was very central

Cons:

There were some rude inpatient guests who gave the bar staff a hard time and I really felt for them. We tried to compensate by reassuring them they were doing a great job and we had had a lovely time.

Overall happy but some improvements needed
Pros:

The Castle was in an excellent location for our friends who were all meeting up. Ideal to walk from. Rooms comfortable, although a little cold.
Restaurant decor was lovely.

Cons:

Lack of parking an issue, as the car park was tiny and always full. Managed to park on the road nearby in the end. We were a party of eight which seemed to cause problems with good. We ate a meal in the evening and had to wait 1 1/2 hours for our starters and a further hour for mains! Even though we had booked our stay and meal well in advance.
All doors in the premises were grubby and needed a good clean.

Was fine for 1 night
Pros:

Beautiful pub, decorated lovely and the staff are so polite and helpful. The room was next door to the pub, and it’s in a great location.

Cons:

We had dinner and breakfast at the pub, which was ok.. not good but not bad. Wouldn’t eat there again if we stayed. While they’ve renovated the bathroom, areas still need doing like replacing the door and handles, the carpet in the roof and the sofa bed was SO uncomfortable.

Lovely accommodation in a beautiful location.
Pros:

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff.
Our room was clean and comfortable and the bed was very good.
If you are exploring the area or staying in the village for an event at Peaks Cavern a fantastic location.

Cons:

There was only a clothes rail in our room, which was a loft room, and was just about big enough for our stay.
If you were staying longer and needed more clothes space you'd have problems and would be living out of your suitcase.

Great Location
Pros:

Very good accommodation in an excellent location in Castleton. The hotels car park gets very busy but there is off road parking. Wi-Fi is poor.
