Lots of things on site to do
Dated and some of the facilities either closed or being refurbished
The setting was beautiful
The hotel is a little dated
Location
Nothing to dislike
Such a lovely hotel, we have stayed with you many times, always good service
Carpet stained bad in our room
The wifi signal around the grounds was great, even though the gym was a temporary gym due to rennovation the standard was still really high, swimming was enjoyable and the views from the golf club bar very nice.
Staff in the golf club and reception all very helpful and friendly.
The hotel bar was closed and not stocked, there was no staff anywhere except the reception area, the rooms were very average - advertised as luxury stay, it didn't have air-con, a fridge, body wash or any basic toiletries in the bathroom. We ate dinner in the golf club bar, the menu was equal to Wetherspoons, with microwaved food being charged at £15 per person, this standard of food to prices was a bit of a joke. My wife spent £80 for spa treatment and had a very average experience compared to other hotel experiences.
Not alot
We were extremely disappointed with our stay.
At no point during the booking process, nor when we checked in, were we made aware that significant building work would be taking place. Yet at almost 9pm, there was still constant banging, knocking, hammering, music and the sound of carpets being ripped up. It genuinely felt like we were staying on a building site rather than in a hotel.
I called reception and was told that a manager was dealing with the situation. This appeared to stop the builders’ music, but all the other noise continued. After another 30 minutes, I called reception again and asked if we could be moved to another room, only to be told that the hotel was fully booked.
To make matters worse, the builders’ vans were parked directly outside our window. Once the builders had finished for the evening, they stood outside our window talking. Then, at 8am the following morning, they were back outside our window, shouting and talking.
We also found the breakfast to be very disappointing, particularly considering the price we paid.
What was supposed to be a relaxing night away was anything but relaxing. We left feeling incredibly disappointed and, quite honestly, couldn’t wait to get home.
I appreciate that building work may sometimes be unavoidable, but guests should be informed before booking or at the very least when checking in, particularly when the work is taking place late into the evening and starts again early the following morning. Had we known, we would absolutely have reconsidered our stay.
The staff was so friendly and so accommodating. The spa was incredible, and the location was perfect.
We didn’t realise it was card only throughout the destination, but that was easily fixed
Good
Excellent
We had lovely views from our room
We paid to have breakfast in bed it ment to be between 9am and 9.30 I had to ring them up and it didn't come until 10 IT WAS DISGUSTING we left most of it was cold and horrible we hadn't got showed because we thought we have breakfast first and check out is 11am so we had to eat then get ready and had to run around and wasnt very nice the double bed was also 2 single beds joined together with a massive gap in the middle and the duvet was zipped together and it was also horrible when sharing a bed with your partner feeling that massive zip or falling through the gap in between so some good stuff but I wouldnt say we didn't have a very good time Premier Inn are nicer
The swimming and sauna gym areas were good.
The hotel needs updating the Clubhouse is nice, but thd staff there not very friendly, only went in for a drink but they didn't really want to serve us. We were going to have breakfast but the trolley they put hot food in was not clean so went elsewhere.
The Staff were so helpful and the room very comfortable and clean.
The Clubhouse facilities were very crowded, we had to eat outside and the food very average but nicely served by young staff.
The staff on reception was very good
There was a fly in the kettle, there was no sugar, hair clips on the tray with the drinks stuff, there was a droning noise in the room, the room was dirty, only had a hours sleep. Spoken to the manager via email, have had no offer of a refund. Customer service by the manager is very poor
