pleasant but needs improvement
Pros:

breakfast excellent not a large choice selection of main meals unless you liked chicken or burgers very dog friendly

Cons:

there seemed to be confusion about how you paid at the bar some charged it to the room and others wanted us to pay the system was very inconsistant and needs addressing as it caused unneccessary stress

Great food but hotel tired
Pros:

Breakfast was fine and to be expected. Location was good for us as we were going to Grosmont

Cons:

Room was tired and paintwork etc badly scuffed. Ceiling in our room was stained and just needed a fresh coat of paint.
Overall the hotel was in need of refurbishment

Wonderful stay on the North Yorkshire Moors!
Pros:

This is seriously good dog friendly establishment.
Dogs and their humans are welcomed and treated to the highest quality rooms, food and service. Nothing is too much trouble. Beautiful village on the moors with a steam train rail station for trips to Whitby and Pickering. So much to see and do.
We had a fabulous stay..

Enjoyable and will be even better once fully refurbished. Would stay again.
Pros:

All staff very friendly and helpful. Service with a smile! A good breakfast, exceeded expectations, very polite and friendly staff.

Cons:

The property is undergoing refurbishment and those areas still awaiting updating are a little tired. Bedrooms had been refurbished and were lovely.
