Smoke alarm went off at ~2.00 for no apparent reason 🤷♂️
The location was about 10 minutes away from the town centre which was very convenient, plenty of shops nearby, including public transport. The staff were polite and helpful. Room clean.
Now this has more to do with the other guests than the hotel itself, but I think they should’ve had a disclaimer in on their site explaining they may have had local workers staying short term or long term, who knows? Either way, the other guests were extremely noisy. I understand the hotel is above a pub and that’s not the issue. It closes at 8 after all. But the guests were banging around the hallways until about 10.30 being very loud and rowdy. Slamming doors. Stomping around. And again, even this wasn’t the main issue although it was worth mentioning. I was woken up at 5.30 by one of these people singing as he, I’m assuming, got ready for work. Then again at 6.15. Then 6.30. The hallway echos. And the rooms are very close to each other so the noise travels well.
Like I said it wasn’t necessary the hotels fault but based on my nights experience, perhaps bring a good pair of ear buds.
Everything was as advertised and expected. Extra touches like bottle of water in the room were good. If you want a single room above a pub with your own bathroom ( but not en-suite ) in a quiet street at a reasonable cost then it fits the bill. Host was very friendly and helpful.

That the door was broken on arrival
When we arrived at the Carpenters to check in the lady behind the bar was very pleasant and welcoming, however she seemed surprised that we had a booking and asked how we had booked it.After making a phone call, she informed us our room was ready, The room itself was lovely, clean and well presented
We were told they had a live band performing on the Saturday night, mentioning that the bar would be extremely busy. When we returned later, the bar was indeed packed, and we squeezed our way in before heading to our room.
The music stopped around 10.45 and we assumed that was the end of the entertainment. However , it started back up and continued until around 12.30am very loud music then carried on until about 1.00am.
Had we been made aware at the time of booking that live music would continue so late into the night, we would not have chosen to stay here. We feel the information should have been clearly communicated before our stay, allowing us to make an informed decision. While the room and staff were good, the noise significantly affected our experience.
I actually booked this for my daughter’s boyfriend. This is his second time here. He loved it the first time so was very happy to stay there again. Nice room, lovely hotel

Yet again a very good stay. Friendly staff and owner, room clean and spacious. Bathroom clean and spacious.
I ate at the pub on my first night. Chicken kiev. Made to order, it was succulent and tasty.

Above very friendly pub close to centre in reasonably quiet street. Very good value.
The night I was there was a Sat and it was live music night. Very loud until midnight. Take your earplugs if you stay on a Sat. Ight but I think any other night of the week would be ok
Very clean and modern design room
Above all, it’s a very nice place, but the room was uncomfortably hot, making it very difficult to sleep. Providing a fan is essential, especially during warm weather like this. A fan would have made a significant difference to the comfort of our stay.
As always a friendly greeting, the room was spacious and comfortable. Shower was lovely.
There was a fan in my room, window that could open and i found it peaceful.
