Great stop
Pros:

I like the timing of my stay being with the festival. It was well organised.
Was already aware there maybe noise on a Saturday night. The hotel messaged me to let me know there was a festival and about the football with the noise. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was a great size. Food was lovely. Parking was easy.

Friendly staff battling against all odds to keep a smile on customers' faces in an old hotel
Pros:

The staff were very friendly, smart and always helpful. The breakfast was exceptionally generous and good and the mix of buffet and service worked well.
Parking was free and there was always a space available. Remember to put your vehicle registration into the computer at the bar!

Cons:

The property has really seen better days and, although the staff did their best, tables and floors were sticky. We had a room in the roof and it was hell! Terribly hot and no fan or aircon. The miniature windows could only be opened a bit and, in any case, the 24/7 road noise meant you couldn't sleep if they were open even half an inch.
The bedside table had a light, a radio and a hair dryer but no plug socket to plug them in.
The hotel is exactly where all the roads into and out of the town meet, and delivery trucks etc. are only a few yards away from the window and the noise is almost 24/7.
The staircase up to the top floor is extremely steep to carry bags up and (of course) sprinkled with about 4 or 5 fire doors.
To at least unwind at the end of the day we ordered an Aperol Spritz at the bar (yes, it was on the menu and there were instruction cards to show the staff how to prepare it). After about a 20 minute search of all bar shelves and storerooms by 3 staff members it was determined that the hotel didn't have a bottle of Aperol.

Pros:

We had a wonderful stay and found this to be an excellent base for exploring Cornwall. The location is fantastic, right in the town centre with easy access to local amenities and plenty of parking available.

Most of Cornwall’s major attractions were within a 45 minute to a hour's drive, making it very convenient for sightseeing. The rates were also very reasonable compared to many other nearby towns, where accommodation prices were noticeably higher.

The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. We also enjoyed the food, and the breakfast was particularly good.

As a historic inn, the rooms are beginning to show some signs of age, which is understandable and adds to the character of the property. Despite this, everything was comfortable and clean.

Overall, this is great value for money, offering a convenient location, excellent service, and a pleasant stay. We would happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking to explore Cornwall.

Cons:

Everything was 👍
