Breakfast was very average. Very small selection of cereals and fruit, most of the vegetarian English was out of a tin or freezer.
Bed was comfortable.
Bedroom tiny and bathroom even smaller. Some of the woodwork in the bathroom is in dire need of repair.
Wir hatten ein großes Zimmer unter dem Dach mit viel Platz. Im Bad hat mir besonders die große Regendusche gefallen.
Clean, cozy accommodation.
Room very cold in the morning, I assume heating is on a timer. Unfortunately, that does not cater for travellers ‘not’ on uk time! (Which can happen with traveller’s accommodation)
The property was in a lovely area and the staff were all excellent.
The room we had was a good size for us as we went for room 7 The Hayloft and it was great. Nice and quiet, good facilities and very comfortable, with a lovely big bed and large hot shower. The room was also nice and warm throughout our stay which is important to me as a chilly mortal.
The breakfast each morning was lovely and we had a good selection - all food was high quality and cooked to perfection with nothing being too much trouble for the lovely cheery morning staff who greeted us each day.
We ate in the main restaurant on night one and in the pub bar from the bar menu on nights two and three. All the food was well cooked and extremely good quality - my partner loved the burger!
The pie in the restaurant, whilst at first glance quite pricey was exceptional quality, as were the fish and chips and the mushroom stroganoff.
Each night the restaurant and bar were packed and I can understand why.
The actual building was amazing with ornate carvings and a lovely open fire. Some people might consider it tired in places, but it's very old with an incredible history, so yes, some areas outside could do with a bit of TLC, but I'd definitely return to stay if in the area again and would recommend it to friends and family.
I can imagine that in the summer it'd be an amazing place to sit outside and enjoy the sun.
There wasn't anything I didn't like as such.
I see from other reviews, people mention cost and at first glance the restaurant menu in particular looked pricey, however, the food was exceptional, so don't be put off by the prices as portions are large and well cooked, so you probably might not actually need the sides that in some instances you have to pay for separately.

Separate bedrooms to the main bar.
The open fire which doesn’t give off enough heat!!
This 16th century inn has unique charm and a very rustic and antiquity feel to it - you enter it not with the feeling of staying over but as though you are going on adventure. In January, this inn was quiet but in the summer months I expect, due to its charm and position - plus the quality of the food in the restaurant - I expect it will be packed. The food was delicious and filling. Good range of local ales available as well. The other thing is the inn has plenty of parking.
My quibbles - number 1 - the bathroom - the shower, though great, was positioned in the wrong place and when running quite a bit of the water ends up out the tray and the skirting was showing signs of this happening in the doorway. Number 2 - the toilet faces the shower screen which when doing your constitutions seems slightly claustrophobic. And, thirdly, the radiator is placed behind the long, heavy curtain near the window which defeats the cause of trying to heat the room.
