I would stay here again just not in that room.
Pros:

Parking available . Friendly staff good evening meals in the bar or restaurant . Nice grounds and great location. Breakfast was awesome. With special mention to the lady server who was so helpful.

Cons:

The only thing I will say is the room I was in must have been a large storage cupboard at one time as the entrance door was very small and I almost fell in due to the step

Very pleasant and comfortable
Pros:

Very spacious room and bathroom.
Breakfast excellent.
Very pleasant staff.
Liked the complimentary drink for not having our room cleaned.
Lovely house and views would love to be staying there in the summer to fully appreciate the grounds.

Cons:

Hot tap in bathroom exceedingly hot to the point of being dangerous.
No plug for the sinks made washing and shaving very difficult.

Pros:

Lovely location, staff helpful & friendly.
Room was nice, clean and comfortable. My husband was so impressed with the shower in the bathroom, he would stay there again just for that.

Cons:

Only downside was that the lights in the corridor outside were on all night and you could see this as there were gaps around the door that let the light in. We suggested that maybe they had sensor lights in these areas.

Cons:

Room didn’t get very warm especially in the morning, plus why have full length curtains in front of the radiator?

I wouldn’t stay there again . I had been to a funeral that day and would have liked a comfortable room to come back too
Cons:

The property needed updating
I was in a garden room . To get to this room in the dark I had to manoeuvre potholes full of rain water . Very little lighting. No bottled water in the room . I very outdated heating system . I had to call maintenance to get the shower working . Very poor toiletries. No curtains at the window and no carpet on floorboards . I ordered the steak for dinner which I had to return , it was so tough I couldn’t cut it , the second piece was not much better . The breakfast was good .

I would avoid staying here if you plan to leave your car overnight
Pros:

Breakfast was nice and the staff in the restaurant were helpful and polite. The building is pleasant overall but the rooms are dated. It was easy to find but the car park is a clearly a security risk.

Cons:

I stayed at Stoke Place on the night of 19/11/25, and my visit was completely ruined when my car — along with others — was found with its window smashed in the hotel car park.

What made the experience even worse was the hotel’s response. When I reported the damage to reception, I was simply told “there is nothing we can do.” No offer of support, no guidance, no reassurance — just complete dismissal.

The fact that multiple cars were affected on the same night made me deeply concerned about the level of security at this hotel. While I cannot comment on how often this happens, the lack of security and lack of responsibility shown by the hotel left me feeling extremely unsafe and unsupported as a guest.

I will not be returning and would strongly advise anyone considering staying here to think carefully, especially if you plan to leave your car on-site.

Excellent value for money
Pros:

what did i like, well, it looks like a building from Downton abbey, how am i going to pay to stay at a place like this,
On a Sunday evening,£85 including breakfast, For a full English it was a plate full, which would have cost about £19.00.
2 eggs, 2 hash browns ( Not English ) 1 sausage 1 slice of Black pudding, 4 rashers of back bacon, baked beans and toast, and coffee.

Cons:

couldn't find any thing really, a spiders web in a corner, it may be cold in winter, but there was a radiator in the room,
the shower took a bit of time to get hot water to come through.

They capitalise on the beauty of the building and grounds but inside it’s disappointing
Pros:

Beautiful from the outside

Cons:

Very run down, the rooms were dirty, curtains torn etc. It just felt like it needs a full re-do as everything is tired. No conditioner in the shower. Only one towel in the room when we arrived and they charged £10 for a cot that was broken.

Excellent hotel
Pros:

Beautiful hotel with so much character. Lovely staff, very helpful. Rooms are all very different but some are more recently decorated and are tastefully done. I love the roll top bath. I had a very large bed with excellent quality bedding and decent pillows. The food was very good and the breakfast was amazing. There is a lovely bar hidden away which had a nice atmosphere.
I would definitely recommend staying here.
