Bedroom was great and breakfast very good.
Unfortunately the Kestrel was closing down for refurbishment the day after our visit, a fact we weren't informed about before booking. This meant that stocks were being run down and so there were limited options for draught beer (all similar largers) upon arrival, and the range dwindled during the evening leaving pretty much Hobson's choice at the bar.
Good location for Yorkshire Showground.
Very poor sound proofing, very hard to sleep. Creaky floors, you can hear your next door neighbours conversations, banging doors all night.
Staff were excellent and very welcoming. They even called me to reserve a table for dinner and kept the kitchen open !

Quick check-in and check-out. Nicely decorated room and a comfortable firm bed.
Very poor soundproofing. Lots of noise throughout the night. What's worse is just 10 minutes after entering our room at 8pm, staff knocked and told us to keep the noise down due to complaints. We were only chatting and watching TV at normal volume. It’s disappointing to be blamed when the real issue seems to be the hotel’s insulation. Also, the desks and bedside tables felt quite sticky to the touch.
Our second stay at The Kestrel, and again it did not dissappint. Excelent in every way - really comfortable room, first rate food in the resturant and great service. Top notch.
Nothing, all perfect
Our room was comfortable and clean. The shower was great. All of the staff we met were friendly and helpful. The cooked breakfast was good. It is close to Harrogate and the A1M.

Booked the weekend away to celebrate a big birthday, absolutely loved the location room was superb and breakfast was huge
Nothing, it was all perfect
The area was very good
The bed was so hard the wife and I couldn't sleep told staff in the morning and nothing was done to rectify this so we left a day early very disappointed
Friendly staff, room cleanliness
Noise below from diners, this is the second room we have stayed in and both we're noisy
Everything was nice, ease of getting there, staff, comfort and food. Shower really nice and hot, room nicely decorated.
I liked everything only problem was the bread selection, no 'normal ' bread, my husband doesn't like anything apart from normal white and brown. No seeds, sourdough etc. Especially for toast and jam.
I loved the decor of the room and the bathroom was amazing.
Very nice location and brilliant views of the countryside
The bed was a little too hard/firm for my liking and also the walls were very thin so could hear the people in the room next to us walking around.
Nice atmosphere, staff friendly.
The room was nice but I got very little sleep, the floor boards creak so bad in the hall way it will wake you when people pass and the walls are very thin, I could hear every call from the room next door.
