Ein absolutes NO-GO in unseren Augen.
The staff was so hospitable. We arrived late and even though they had already closed down the kitchen they still made us a dinner. They are all so friendly and helpful!
Fantastic views.
Aussicht traumhaft

Absolutely stunning view from the balcony. Bus stop right outside. Traditional Swiss building.
Breakfast very minimal. Majority of staff were unwelcoming and quite rude to be honest. The one staff member who was nice to us kindly let us buy some fries to take up to our room for dinner, after which we were chased by another staff member and lectured that we shouldn’t be taking food to our room and given a lecture on not getting the room dirty, which was completely uncalled for. however it was stated by the kind staff member that there is no issues with eating in the room. Majority of staff do not have any or very little English just to make aware for English speakers (not necessarily a bad thing but makes it quite difficult to communicate) but I think they must treat you worse if you only speak English. There was also no kettle which was disappointing. Also no lift which makes it difficult with luggage. Bed and pillows quite uncomfortable.
A traditional and cosy 2* hotel located in the outskirts of Grindelwald. The bus to the slopes stops every 15' right in front of the hotel which makes moving around (during the day) very easy. Even more, there is a very nice red slope ending just one bus stop down from the hotel, which makes it almost a ski-in hotel. Facility-wise is what someone would expect from a 2* hotel. Not exceptional but still absolutely and spotlessly clean (a cleaner would come in every day), with great wi-fi, loads of hot water and good heating (we were there with -15 Celsius and harldy felt anything). The personnel is extremely friendly and pleasant. And the breakfast, although not extremely diversified, is very tasty with home made jam and tasty bread, croissants, fruit, cereals, ham and cheese, yoghurt and fresh butter and any hot drink someone would wish for (no eggs etc). Overall, and given the prices in Grindelwald, it was worth the money we paid for. Just last year we paid almost twice this amount to be tacked in an apartment in central Grindelwald, without any view of the mountains. If you don't mind the distance, the place is great.
Not very much of a problem for us, as we had our own car, but the bus service stops quite early (last bus from the centre is at 18.30). So, unless you have your own means of transportation, you have to either take a taxi (expensive!), walk uphill for at least 30' or stay and eat at the hotel restaurant, which might be a bit overpriced compared to other options we explored (but we are always in Switzerland, so...).
