The staff were entirely top-notch. The location is excellent, and the restaurant is very good as well.
The pool was only clean enough to swim in a few days, unfortunately.
Excellent location on the beach with tress for shade!
Awesome location on the beach. Great views from the restaurant. Friendly staff.
Right on the beach with a great restaurant on premises, the food was very good. The staff were very nice and friendly. Our room was very nice and clean. We’d definitely stay again.
The only issue we had was with the power and WiFi outages when we were there. We stayed two nights and didn’t have WiFi service from the evening until we checked out. Luckily the power outages never lasted too long.
Loved the location on the beach, the staff, and the food at the restaurant
WIFI was pretty hit and miss
Location at beachfront
Renovated room and had been thought out in design
Cost - at the price I would have expected breakfast to be included
We loved the location, so nice to be right on the beach. We loved our room and the smaller, more intimate size of the hotel. Loved the shaded “reading” nook upstairs. Great bbq night at restaurant. Felt very safe and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall great. We will be back for sure!
We loved that it was a small hotel, right on the beach. We liked that it felt kind of “old fashioned,” and cozy, but the facilities were updated. It was great having the restaurant to enjoy quiet breakfasts right at the ocean. We also loved having beach loungers.
They didn’t warn us that the restaurant can get busy, especially on taco Tuesday and BBQ nights, and it’s a good idea to make dinner reservations.
The room was amazing. It felt very authentic to the original hotel feel.
The bathroom was fantastically updated. Great walk-in shower.
The restaurant was delicious and so were the drinks.
Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.
We honestly had 0 complaints about this hotel.
The only thing that "might" be a downside is that there are no elevators. Other than that, everything was perfect!!
Quiet walkable town, swimable beachfront location, several sitting areas outside of the room, decor, restaurant on site with morning coffee available, responsive staff, stunning sunsets every evening, daily happy hour, BBQ & taco night
no balcony for the room - only public verandas available; no non-motorized water sport equipment available
Location clean, well appointed, secure. Outdoor shower to rinse off the salt and sand. Plenty of comfortable seats for lounging on the beach. Good shade. Nice lounge on 2nd floor for watching the sunset. Complimentary coffee very nice.
Room could use a full length mirror and some place to hang up bathing suits to dry. TV in our room was installed on the wall but still had stand hardware for tabletop attached, which created a hazard (snagging or bumping against a hard pointy surface.) 2nd floor hall lights didn't work so steps up were dark. Definitely did not like gasoline fumes from lots of motorcycles going by on the beach walking path.
We spent part of our vacation here and another part at a resort. This hotel was so cute and in a great location to be near night life . We were able to see an awesome sunset right on the beach!!! The hotel was unique and very welcoming! Would definitely stay here again!
The hotel staff were welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful, especially Dixianna and Gabriella.
Beach front property.
The morning coffee wasnt what i expected for costa rica. Such a silly complaint but it wasnt good.
The beach / view
Fantastic location, right on the beach and very friendly staff
Our room window opened directly onto a very narrow alley pressed right up against the neighboring building. Instead of any natural light or view, we were looking straight into a tight space filled with garbage bins, and hotel staff were constantly passing through the alley throughout the day.
This meant very little privacy, minimal daylight, and frequent noise from staff activity just outside the window. The overall atmosphere felt more like a service corridor than a guest-facing room location.
This setup significantly affected the comfort of the stay and is something that would have been important to know before booking.
AMAZING -- Playa Hermosa area was wonderful -- the hotel had just enough amenities to feel pampered ( pool, lovely view, onsite restaurant, happy hour bar, options for massage) and the water and views were incredible. It was easy walking to four restaurants (including the one at the hotel). Eating at the hotel restaurant was good and we loved La Casita del Marisco dinners. We never felt the need to go outside of that area! Frank the Tank picked us up for a boat tour directly in front of the hotel!
El Velero food was a little more expensive than restaurants surrounding the hotel - breakfast is not included but they have free coffee and onsite breakfast for ~$12 pp
Location and staff were great!
