Beautiful surroundings and very comfortable room. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Evening meal was a little disappointing. Lemon sole not good value for money.
Rustic feel to the hotel great surroundings
Room was aged bathroom was old looking and below what you expect from a hotel of this stature and reputation
Beautiful setting, very comfortable and cosy for winter break
The swimming pool was really busy and very cold. Tiny changing room for the size of pool
Clean ,great food,staff friendly.
Location is beautiful! Excellent food and very lovely staff.
A beautiful setting, food good, an attractive spotlessly clean room and on the whole staff were helpful .
The breakfast was very well organised and excellent.
For the evening meal, however, on 1 occasion drinks and another occasion food was brought to the wrong table. The food my wife had ordered was brought to her but shortly after was removed as apparently is was intended for another table. Shortly after a member of staff rather accusingly asked my wife if she had touched the food.
The wine although good was overpriced.
Staff were great - in bar/check-in/resturant and quality of food was great apart from my partner contracting rather severe food poisoning a few hours after leaving the hotel - from what we could work out - had to be the sausages at breakfast from the buffet which she said were a bit lukewarm. Would go back but would be getting a freshly cooked breakfast which was an option.
Food poisoning from what we think were the breakfast sausages (in a self serve buffet) . Would have been more serious for a child/elderly/frail person. I did contact the hotel reception after this had happened later that day at home- thinking at the time it might have been norovirus but they didn't seem that concerned, which wasn't expected or felt was the appropiate response. Email feedback direct to the hotel mentioned all this and so expected a call/follow-up from them, but nothing.
I have visited this hotel for over 40 yrs...
This is the first time I used one of the top suites...
The weather was unfortunately absolutely awful but the area is a joy to be in.
The service in the restaurant was excellent, especially attentive...
One point would be to seat us less "packed in" to one particular area while other parts of the restaurant were empty.
The hotel is in a gorgeous setting. Our room was amazing. The bathroom was huge with a bath and walk in shower and all top quality fittings. The staff were friendly and super professional. All in all this was a perfect stay.
Nothing
Location and staff were excellent. First evenings dinner was excellent. Second evening meal was disappointing, main course vegetables and plates stone cold, Yorkshire pudding tough, lamb rump 50% gristle and fat.
Breakfast normally a good buffet, but poached haddock was poorly presented.
See above
The staff were brilliant, couldn't ask for better.
The location and surroundings are beautiful and well maintained.
Comfy mattress.
Good bathroom.
Really clean.
Will definitely be back.
A bit pricey.
Pillows aren't the comfiest.
Beautiful hotel tucked away in the trees! An old building transformed in an elegant hotel.
Great breakfast. Lovely dinner. Lots of seating areas.
Lovely bedrooms.
The beds- the mattress was really awful. Very springy and noisy.
