The barman (JJ, I think) was very welcoming and helpful on arrival, and Ethan was great in the morning - thank you.

On the whole, great. Don’t be flippant when things are wrong.
Pros:

Location, excellent breakfast

Cons:

No hot water the morning we left.
Managers response, oh really? Yes, the waitress passed on our & other rooms complaints to you when I was there!
Yeah, but I’ve turned it on now.
Well that’s a bit late. And I was very courteous about the issue & wasn’t the end of the world for us.
But your flippant attitude & failure to apologise was unexceptable!
You were lovely when all was well but the true character comes out when things aren’t right, which is inevitable at some stage

A well equipped hotel with spacious rooms in a great central location.
Pros:

Good location in the town centre very close to the railway station which is convenient for travellers arriving by rail.

As with the previous Youngs pubhotel we had stayed at, the rooms were very well equipped, and here they were spacious, mine in particular was almost a suite with a sofa area around a coffee table and window seats as well as a desk and hot drink making area with a a Nespresso coffee machine. It was almost a pity that we did not spend more time in the room.

We did not eat dinner here this time, but have done so previously and food and service was good. Breakfast was included and was of good quality, and we were given a bit of extra time to finish breakfast before retrieving our luggage from the room, which took us beyond the official checkout-the extra time was appreciated.

Cons:

Due to the location above a busy bar in the town centre there was some noise until around midnight when the pub and surrounding establishments closed, but it didn't really bother us too much.
Bacon in the breakfast was a little too crisp.

Enjoyable 2 night stay
Pros:

We stayed for 2 nights and had a very enjoyable stay. We received a warm welcome and all staff were efficient displaying a comfortable level of friendliness. The room we had was delightful, spacious and spotlessly clean.
We would defiantly stay again next time we are in the area.
