Pros:

A perfect location for our family party at Ticknall Village Hall. Breakfast was great and after a walk to and around Calke Abbey we very much enjoyed our Sunday dinner. Our rooms were quiet, the bed was king-size and we were given a front door key for private access.

Cons:

The room was a little too hot but the fan helped.

Good pub for overnight stay
Cons:

The welcome wasn’t as friendly as it could have been- very matter of fact and given how hot it was simple things like iced water might have made me feel valued.

Lovely room, clean and well appointed. Great location.
Pros:

Great room, well appointed and spacious. Had asked for a cool room given heat wave but there was no fan in the room and the towel rail was super hot which I couldn’t turn off. Other than that, a lovely place to stay, clean, great staff and location was excellent.

Welcoming and comfortable village pub.
Pros:

A very welcoming pub with rooms. We had a comfortable bed and an excellent breakfast. Our evening meal was good quality and the staff were all really friendly. It’s in a great place when visiting Calke Abbey and it’s a great overnight stopping place. Excellent value too.

Cons:

We had a small room and the stairs were a bit of a climb. Nothing unusual though and it had a lovely view over gardens and was so quiet. We’d happily stay again.

Pros:

Very polite and helpful staff. Nice and quiet location, right next to a bus stop. The bed was really comfy with a thick duvet and pillows. Parking is easy to access and the rooms are directly above the pub, where they also serve food

Cons:

Room can get a bit chilly and I couldn’t get the heating on. Bring an electric blanket if you get cold easily. The bathroom is good but could use more ventilation. Also there were a couple of carpet beetles, which can become a problem if they get in your luggage. Lastly, the room doors aren’t numbered
