Quaint old hotel, in need of updating. Expensive for what it is.
Pros:

The property is old and the reception, bar area and restaurant are quaint. The staff were friendly and we were personally shown to our room, which was large and on the face of it, fine.
Nice large TV, bed comfortable enough.

Cons:

The property would benefit from extensive updating as the facilities are dated; the water pressure for the shower was very poor.

Tea / Coffee making facilities are provided, but not any milk, which we discovered after going to bed after the bar had closed. Even the top up station downstairs did not have any!

We did not stop for breakfast so cannot comment on that.

Great stay at a genuine place with genuine people
Pros:

The George is the antidote to corporate, cookie cutter accommodation. The experience of dealing with helpful & genuinely friendly staff who go the extra mile, not for a personal review, but because they genuinely care & want to help, was refreshing. The building itself is 100's of years old with all the challenges that brings with upkeep & maintenance. The reality is that everywhere was clean & the furniture was an eclectic mix of styles. This is to me what provides character. There is plenty of on-site parking that is easy to access. The breakfast was excellent & cooked with love of food rather than with haste. Previously stayed at the nearly Wetherspoons, but their dynamic pricing is very cynical, so never again. The George is a gem & the staff amazing!

Cons:

Very little to not like. You can tell from my Likes above that it was an entirely positive experience.

Location for where I wanted to be was great.
Good to have on site breakfast and
Evening meal for a single person staying so I did not have to leave the place
Room was large enough with some gorgeous antique furniture and bed comfy.
Food for evening meal in the pub was really nice and a great choice.

Cons:

Breakfast was nice but limited, you couldn’t have cooked ( which was only 1 of each item) and then maybe say yoghurt, or granola or cereal. There was no fresh fruit on offer. I had tea but not offered orange juice or anything else.
In the room there was a new style kettle with water filter, but it would not fit under the tap to fill it up, had to use a glass!

Great stay in centre of Dereham with parking. Liked the town too.
Pros:

Great location, friendly staff. Nice big room with an aircon unit
