Was an amazing place, staff were friendly and the food was tremendous.
Nothing
Location was brilliant, breakfast was okay, it wasn't very hot
We paid £279 for a one night stay the bedding was clean, room was very dated and basic, stains on carpets and hole in the wall, really needed up grading for the amount we paid, the best bit was the view from the room
Beautiful view from the room. Ground floor areas are very stylish. Such friendly staff.
So disappointed that we could not go into any of the grounds, this was a feature we were looking forward to, and the main reason we chose to book. Apparently grounds are not accessible to non wedding guest, and we were told they had had a wedding on for 34 consecutive days, this is so unfair to residents looking for a relaxing stay and to enjoy the amazing views. Paying nearly £250.00 for the night was so overpriced for this important reason, not even many areas you could sit inside and relax with friends if you wasn’t at the wedding. The price for the room was also overpriced, apart from the view, it needed a lot of tlc.
The main let down was the quality of food in the restaraunt. The prices are way to high for the standard. The breakfast was cold and hardly anything available. Not what u expected when paying 286 for one night
The food was terrible and way to expensive
it's on a hill...stunning views....
Despite paying £294.000 for our stay, there isn’t enough seating in the venue, we were forced to sit on pallets for our evening, the building clearly isn’t finished. Building work and unfinished parts all over. Poorly competed decor, scruffy carpets and not what I’d expected for my hard earned £294.00
The youngsters may find this “trendy’ but, at 60 years old, pallets are just scrap wood, nailed together…they are not luxury seating for a whole evening.
Yet, glancing over these areas, a shouting match ensued by what I can only call, a PTSD incident at reception when trying to check out of the place. We were shouted out so much that we feared for our safety…a full on slanging match because we wanted to check out and pay.
Having contacted the General Manager, he explained that he’d “told the chap off”…(but, couldn’t go into detail).
The venue has our £294.00 for a truly horrific stay…the venue is sub standard, poorly decorated, pallets for seating, unfinished and the staff will bawl you out, if you try to check out 20mins earlier than they want you to so much so, that you’ll fear for your safety.
A venue charging £294.00 per evening would suggest quality, luxury, a personal touch, that little extra yet, bags carried to our room, a modern door locking system, attentive staff…we failed to see any of this.
In fact, the exact opposite, admitted by the General Manager, in an email.
This venue is a Travelodge on a hill.
Great location.
The hotel is obviously a fantastic wedding venue and this seems to be the main focus.
The team goes above and beyond for guests, every staff member here is so courteous and helpful making our stay truly enjoyable. Wonderful location.
Dated and overpriced
Great location for the views and nature (seals spotted on the shore below!), nice comfortable room, surprisingly good food (which is important when there’s not much else around).
Stayed as a wedding guest and was cheaper to book through booking.com. Venue is in a beautiful location. Half the rooms seem to be renovated and half not but whole hotel is clean and tidy
The toast situation at breakfast was jokes in all honesty. It’s all help yourself except toast and it took 45 minutes to bring 2 slices between 4 people!? Just put toasters out for us to do ourselves like every where else?
Staff, especially in the bar area, were very attentive
Enjoyed the wine and choice at breakfast
The room
was basic but very clean
The room was passable, for what we paid, clean but basic. TV had no signal, and pillows need to be replaced.
Its a shame as we were unfortunately served food that was bland and cold, the staff at the restaurant couldn't apologise enough but can only assume the chefs were overstretched with the wedding and basically just warmed it up. Wasn't great! I would just warn that the business model here is weddings first.
