This was the venue for my daughters wedding it was exceptionally well organized the location is stunning the staff exceled themselves. The food for the wedding breakfast was excellent but the buffet breakfast was not as good as my first stay. I would highly recommend this hotel for a wedding but the rooms were expensive.
The rooms were over priced for the evening of the wedding and the breakfast not as good with the hot buffet food been slow to be refilled.
Coffee and the location.
I emailed the hotel three times before leaving this review, hoping to resolve my concerns privately. They never replied.
I booked the Grand Villa for a peaceful birthday getaway because of its remote location. Instead, I arrived to a hotel that felt tired, dated and in need of a deep clean. The entrance carpets looked dirty, reception was cluttered with wedding items and nobody was there until I rang the bell.
Our room also felt dated, but the biggest issue was the noise. A wedding reception with a live band was directly outside our room, vibrating the walls. We were moved to a so-called “luxury suite”, which wasn’t luxurious, and we no longer had the sea view. We could still hear loud wedding guests until after midnight. There was no warning when booking that a wedding was taking place. Hotels should either separate wedding guests from other visitors or make this clear before booking.
Dinner was disappointing. The waitress focused entirely on my partner, made a real song and dance about his height, and ignored and wouldn’t look at me even when I spoke directly to her. I found it unprofessional. Speaking of unwanted pests, there were flies in the restaurant that wouldn’t leave the food alone. My glass had a lipstick mark on it, my lasagne had spongy pasta and was covered in bland, flavourless cheese, and my partner’s steak was tiny.
Breakfast was equally disappointing. There were flies around the buffet, the cooked breakfast was bland and tasted as though it had been sitting being steamed in the hot trays for a long time. The fresh fruit and coffee were the only passable items.
Beautiful location, but not the peaceful luxury stay we booked. Most disappointing to be completely ignored after emailing the hotel three times.
I expected genteel but a bit shabby..it was so much better than that. the room was lovely, staff friendly etc. Breakfast was just right too.
my sons tv didnt work and there was a world cup match on! A member of staff tried to help but they couldnt get it to work
The self service breakfast was excellent and we found the staff helpful and pleasant. The location is fantastic with beautiful views and great walks in the area. Our room was clean and spacious, but quite hot due to the sun on it all morning and a bit noisy due to the kitchen fans.
Although our room got hot, we liked having the good weather and the ability to get out.
Friendly helpful staff
Lovely grounds
Nothing
Clean large rooms good location
There was a wedding taking place which meant we were guided through a small dingy corridor as to avoid the wedding party when accessing the stairs. There was also no evening access to the gardens. The breakfast was served in the bar area and not by the windows with views out onto the cliffs. I felt hotel guests are kept in the background during wedding parties.
The location and the sea view in Robin Hood Bay.

Quiet
There needs to be a highlighted transition on the steps leading from the solara shores bar to the dining area as my wife didn’t see there were two steps and fell

Views and walks
Restaurant food poor though staff tried very hard to please
Breakfast was a pleasant surprise. A real treat for me to have eggs Benedict.
Staff on Monday evening seemed a little distracted. We enjoyed both our meals and the option of a light dessert which wasn't only a choice of icecream.
View from the room is specpacular
We were very disappointed with our one-night stay on Sunday 14th June / Monday 15th June.
To begin with, we were not informed prior to our arrival that much of the hotel would be given over to a wedding party. This included the garden overlooking the bay, where we were greeted by a sign stating that the area was reserved exclusively for wedding guests. Had we been made aware of this in advance, it may have influenced our decision to book.
Despite this, we decided to make the best of our stay. Unfortunately, the experience did not improve as the evening progressed. When we went out early in the evening, we noticed a sign at reception stating that staff were attending to other guests and that visitors should ring the bell or call a phone number if assistance was required. While understandable during a busy period, it gave the impression that regular hotel guests were not a priority.
Later, we returned for a nightcap in the rear bar area, which we had been told was available for hotel guests. However, there was no one available to serve at the bar, and the room had not been cleaned following the wedding celebrations. The area felt neglected and unwelcoming.
We tried to remain positive and returned to our room to relax and watch some television, only to discover that the remote control was missing. I went back to reception, rang the bell, and waited approximately 15–20 minutes before someone was available to assist. I was then informed that the remote was missing.
Ordinarily, a missing TV remote might seem like a minor issue. However, by this point it felt like another example of the lack of attention being given to hotel guests throughout our stay. My particular concern was that the hotel had already pre-authorised £50 on my credit card for room charges and incidentals, and I wanted to ensure that I would not be held responsible for replacing an item that was already missing when we checked in.
Very helpful staff. Clean room and great breakfast.
Such a shame that the old restaurant with the beautiful view of the bay is now only reserved for weddings. Such a negative impact on paying guests from how it used to be.

Staff took 15 mins to answer front bell when we were trying to check in
