Not a lot
Room was very cold. Food average. Staff too laid back
Location
Bar prices are steep
Brilliant location, very good helpful and cheerful staff, good breakfast and dinner. Nicely re-decorated dining areas, seating, foyer etc
However, some of the decor most definitely needs to be updated - our room was verging on shabby: old fashioned wallpaper and carpets and a bathroom which needs to be replaced. Also, bedside lights too far above your head to reach, very irritating! Very oddly painted hallways upstairs, violent terracotta and sickly green in dim lighting...
The location and surroundings
A little bit over priced for drinks
Location was fantastic and the grounds were fantastic with exceptional views of the coastline, the restaurant and bar has a theme and had a nice atmosphere- the staff were attentive to your needs, evening meal was good and the breakfast buffet was good quality with plenty of choice
The room had a strange 2 door entry system and both doors were open when we entered the room, the room also had an adjoining door to another room and the door on our side was unlocked, the decor had one colour from floor to ceiling which wasn’t good decor considering size of room. The bathroom was adequate and in need of some upgrade, On a positive note the shower was powerful with very hot water. Room fittings need an upgrade as well with a need for stronger lighting due to high ceilings. The communal areas in the lobby and the lounge rooms off to the side were well decorated and very cosy
Beatutiful hotel, lovely food, friendly staff and the location is stunning with wide ranging views across Robin Hoods Bay
Our room was qute cold when we arrived and took a while to warm up. It was a very windy day and as an old building the reception area was very cold too. Probably not something that could be helped.
Location and comfort .. original building features very lovely.
From the moment I arrived the staff were friendly and helpful. I stopped here while walking on the coast. The room was nice and clean, good food and Very nice breakfast. I would definitely stop here again.
Wonderful location
Great staff
Nice room with great shower
Breakfast items were kept warm using a steamer which meant fried items went soggy. Would have preferred fried or poached eggs available
This hotel is at the end of a 40mile endurance walk and after we completed this walk in one go we decided to treat ourselves with a stay here.
First of all, the short walk up the well kept drive and into the lovely reception area was such a welcome sight and from then on every single member of staff made us feel incredibly welcome. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed anywhere where the staff are so friendly and helpful - it’s like they’re all one big family who are determined to create a wonderful hotel experience.
The lovely lady at reception checked us in and even reserved us a table for our evening meal.
Our room was spacious, a perfect temperature and clean - a slight over sight of no toiletries but that was rightened instantly with a sincere apology.
Move on to the restaurant and our evening meal. We loved the restaurant and the staff were, once again, incredibly helpful, polite and friendly. The food was utterly perfect: tasty, well presented and the perfect portion size. I’d also add that breakfast was equally good too.
All in all, a great stay which was enhanced by every single member of staff.
Maybe a little overpriced
Nice views from the garden
It has lost its charm it is to modern now and the name does not suit the surrounding area
Really lucky to have found this beautiful place. We enjoyed staying here in a spacious room with a view. The access to the walking paths was also great and the restaurant served yummy food.
comfortable rooms, very good choice of breakfast menu. Staff were always friendly and helpful. The views from the hotel grounds were outstanding. Everything was clean and inviting.
Although we were aware of the hotel being pet friendly, we were disappointed that dogs were allowed in the restaurant. We really didn't enjoy hearing a dog barking in the room we were eating in and to see dogs laying on the floor around the owners table. On the whole the dogs were mostly well behaved around the hotel and gardens. We feel the restaurant should be a no go area for dogs to ensure the comfort of all guests.
Friendly staff, good, tasty and generous breakfast, welcoming to dogs and fabulous views
The hotel should retain its original name of Raven Hall. The street leading to it is named after the hotel and it is a much better name than Grand Villa Heights
The views were fantastic. Breakfast was really good lots of choices. Thd down stairs area was lovely.
The room was a bit dark and grey. Needs updating.
Location good but unable to see the sea views as that part of the hotel is only for wedding guests, unless you book a room with sea views.
Restaurant food was ok.
Decor is horrendous
Done cheaply, this is not a luxury hotel as advertised, really poor quality decoration.
No comfy seats in the bar area, it’s all hard wood seats or eating booths.
Heating was barely on in the bedroom and the towel rail in the bathroom was cold with no way of turning it on, and it was a snowy weekend so this made it very unpleasant to use the bathroom
The rubber seal on the shower door was disgusting.
The bedroom decor and furniture was cheap and not nice.
Cheap cola on draught at the bar even though asked for authentic coke.
Hotel freezing downstairs in reception area
Reception hardly manned
Really poor atmosphere in such a lovely old building such a shame it has been turned into this horrible cheap atmosphere
Everything, excellent location, views stunning , dog friendly
