Pros:

Beautiful building. The staff were exceptional. Perfectly situated to visit staithes and whitby and the Cleveland way

Cons:

Our room (Grouese) was big and had a seating area, which is always a bonus, but there was no plug socket near the mirror for when I was blow drying my hair, which was a shame. It was also quite a dark room as there is no over head light

Peaceful and beautiful setting
Pros:

Just returned from a wonderful overnight stay with family. What a lovely building in the most peaceful and beautiful setting. We were lucky to have good weather and enjoy a drink in the garden where we saw a variety of wild birds and even two deer ran across the lawn. Warm welcome from reception on arrival, in fact all staff were really professional and friendly. Large room with comfortable bed. Everywhere spotlessly clean. Good .choice in restaurant and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Short drive to a number of coastal towns such as Whitby and Saltburn which we enjoyed. Will definitely return and no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Luxury country house break
Pros:

Not been back to hotel for over 15 years - however standards are still high and service excellent. Had a package that included prosecco and strawberries on arrival as well as a 2 course dinner and breakfast. Room was very good - the only niggle being the absene of a mat in the bath. Both dinner and breakfast were first class and the staff were eager to please. Grounds were beautiful - the ideal spot for a luxurious break.

Lovely country house hotel in a beautiful setting, ideal for a peaceful escape.
Pros:

On this occasion just a one night break but plenty of time to enjoy the gardens.
Staff are always welcoming especially Annie on reception when we arrived.
The restaurant menu offers plenty of choice and nice ambience in the bar and lounge areas.
Looking forward to staying at ‘Grinkers’ again soon!

Great hotel and location to explore from and dog friendly !
Pros:

This hotel was located between Whitby and Saltburn and perfect for exploring the surrounding areas. The staff were very friendly and helpful the meals were excellent and the rooms were large and very comfortable. The gardens were lovely to walk around and as it’s very dog friendly it was a great place to stay with our Labrador who was even given a sausage at breakfast from the staff service. Thanks for a lovely stay 🤩

Return visit
Pros:

Return visit, asked for a deluxe room with a garden view. We were given the Mallard, it was in the attic and although it did have a window overlooking the garden, the room itself was small with a double bed. The hotel grounds are very peaceful and the staff are friendly and helpful

Gorgeous Hotel
Pros:

We love staying here! It's a stay cation for us and, our 2nd visit this year. The current deal "strawberry and fizz" is an absolute bargain! All the staff from reception to waiting staff are wonderful, very friendly, polite and helpful. The food is amazing! Excellent choice for both dinner and breakfast, and the quality is amazing. I needed a lower floor room as I have severe asthma, they made sure one was available for me, and the rooms are gorgeous! Would definitely recommend, so much that we're going back for our Wedding Anniversary!

Peaceful and Serene Getaway
Pros:

If you are looking for somewhere to relax and de-stress for a few days Grinkle Park may be your perfect destination. The hotel is set in acres of beautiful grounds which you can wander around. The staff were polite and helpful, the food was a good standard and the rooms were clean and tidy. Housekeeping was great. The hotel itself is an old mansion house so don’t expect a super modern hotel. Mobile reception is very patchy but many would see this as an advantage for a getaway. I only have one criticism. We booked a superior room and the picture of the room on the website did not reflect what we got. The picture suggested a much bigger room. We stayed in Curlew with a view over the driveway. My tip is to ring the hotel and discuss room choice before booking.

A lovely stay!
Pros:

Our second visit to Grinkle Park, this time to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We stayed in the Commondale Room again, which is delightful. The weather was extremely hot and it would have been good to have been able to open the windows fully, however, due to Health & Safety I presume, the windows are on restrictors and could only be opened about 20cm. There was a fan, thank goodness!
The grounds were glorious as the rhododendrons & azaleas were in full bloom & it was a joy to walk around & enjoy them.
When we booked we asked specifically for a couple of things to be done, and were told they would be available. However on arrival when we checked we were told very bluntly that they were not.... which wasn't the lovely welcome we received on our last visit. We were very sad to see that Vicky, who had only joined the Team at the beginning of the year had left. She was delightful on our last visit & we are sorry that she is no longer at Grinkle Park. We were delighted however to see Charlie, (bar staff & waiter) who greeted us warmly and presented us with Champagne specifically from him. A delight!
Dinner on our first night was OK, but the charred vegetables were burned rather than charred... The second night was much better.
On the whole our visit was lovely & we shall return in the future. It was, however, sad to learn that in our previous review on the Hotel's own website, the staff we gave mention to by name were never told or given any kind of praise from the Hotel. Good service deserves to be rewarded.
