A great couple of nights, relaxing and enjoyable.
Pros:

The location and the old world feel of the hall was excellent. It is a little old fashioned but that is part of the appeal. Breakfast was excellent, with lots of choice. We'll be back!

Cons:

The bed wasn't the most comfortable, sadly.

Pros:

It brought old memories back and really enjoyed walking around and learning about the house and history. So close to Scafell Pike as a bonus, great for stop off on way to Scotland, also near Hadrian's Wall which was great. Breakfast was the best, Black pudding and Haggis were the highlights.

It's starting to show it ages a bit in parts but overall it was lovely.

The hotel is clearly designated no smoking but someone decided to smoke in their room on the Saturday morning waking the whole hotel with a smoke alarm.
The entrance needs to be lit up. I nearly drove passed the hotel.

Perfect to relax in luxury.
Pros:

Amazing out of the way retreat. Wish I'd booked for longer. Peacocks in the grounds, forest all round, wow!

Cons:

Had to travel to pub for the midweek stay but even that was no real issue as the bridge was fantastic food and v friendly.
