Disappointing food throughout our stay
Pros:

Nice location, lovely grounds, small but comfortable rooms

Cons:

No lunch available from the bar on arrival. The 3 course meal for the evening event we attended, was average & breakfast the next morning was very poor. No sausages or much else left at 9.30am. A large queue for coffee. I would not recommend the additional cost for the breakfast

Disappointing
Pros:

The garden and ground were well kept and beautiful.

Cons:

The online rooms shown were not a a fair depiction of the cozy room. The hotel is a corporate events venue, with no regard for actual guest experience. The decor is bizarre and doesn't fit with the exterior. The breakfast was lukewarm and vastly overpriced at £22 a head. It should be included in the guest price. The room was tiny with no character.

If you need EV charging, call to check the price & availability before booking.
Pros:

Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful gardens.

Cons:

I booked this hotel specifically because I noticed that someone had asked “Can we book EV charging please?”, with the answer (in Oct 2022) “We have free EV charging available”, but it turned out to not be true, and, on speaking to someone at reception who had worked there since 2018, it’s never been free. It’s even more disappointing that despite complaining, the message is still there this morning. No offer of a price reduction and not particular apologetic. Also, I declined breakfast at over £20 as it seemed excessive when I wanted little more than cereal or toast.

Comfortable but needs attention.
Pros:

Lovely building steeped in history.
Good location with plenty of parking.

Cons:

Extremely small bathroom, the room was described as compact and the description was perfect as it certainly was.
Room very dark and some of the bulbs weren’t working. When sitting on the toilet you have to be very careful not to burn your arm on the heated towel rail.
Breakfast was £22.50 per person.
