The lady serving the breakfast was so welcoming, she was rushed off her feet as I think the whole hotel turned up for breakfast at the same time and she was still very helpful with everyone. Also a big thank you to the breakfast chief. In all that rush , she still somehow did a fabulous breakfast.
Position of the hotel was lovely with great views . Nice Art Deco decoration
Rooms were meant to be art deco but unfortunately other things were old too. The curtains were tatty with rips. The information booklet said how to dial other rooms and reception. Needed updating. Great but there was no phone..I was told I had to go across the car park and talk to reception if I wanted anything. There were no extra pillows or blankets. No face flannels. The key card wouldn't work after 10 am even though check out was at 11am.
Unfortunately my husband was really poorly that night. I mentioned this upon checking out. It might have been nice for her to at least asked after him..Severe lack of empathy .Infact I had to drive him to hospital where he was admitted. Although I paid for the breakfasts I only had croissant and yoghurt and my partner didn't have any because of him being ill so I can't comment on them.
The decor is amazing art deco.
Wifi and internet could have been stronger
It was nice and value for money
A bit noisy due to nearby work going on
Dinner was very good. Breakfast was excellent. The room was highly satisfactory
Management had made a really silly decision to make all the guests attending the dinner go outside to route to the function room. This was apparently because someone had fallen on a step using the normal indoor route, which had served for very many years.. The chosen route was less safe. It was dark, and wet underfoot. What would they have done if it was raining heavily? There was no explanation, perhaps because the reason was so stupid, and guests were perplexed and annoyed. This moronic decision needs to be reversed.
Outside noise - didn’t realise windows were left open. Once closed that helped. Understand it’s bound to be noisy next to airfield but sound proof windows would help. Dirty mark in bath and unflushed toilet paper in toilet pan.
Very clean , relaxing very friendly staff
Nothing
Very friendly staff, amazing decor - both the Art Deco side, and the RAF memorablilia.
Restaurant good value, had dinner and breakfast - good quality food.
Good parking, easy to find, clean rooms. Ideal for an overnight stay.
I didn’t feel the £100 deposit that had to be placed on the room was advertised very well. As you needed an actual card and due to Apple Pay etc not everyone carries their cards so could be an issue for some.
The building is very special with lots of period stuff. Art deco.
The building could do with a little bit of detail work to bring up to its former look. And furniture the same. Definitely worth a visit again and if I was in the area I'd be booking it again.
There is a quiet relaxed atmosphere in this hotel and dining room that suits me very well
The toilet bowls in the bedrooms are very low - difficult to use for persons with restricted mobility
Loved the decor, really authentic
The room was a little cold when I got there with the windows being left open
Found this by chance online for my partner who loves planes, I’m surprised you don’t advertise more? Such. Cool place, will be back again!
The rooms were so warm! And very noisy throughout the evening with the windows open
Very good breakfast
The style and the location
No food served between 3 and 6pm
