location just right and where i needed to e for my visit
Comfort
They couldn't provide bearkafast as chef was unavailable for some reason but it was sorted out appopriately
Evening meal and breakfast were very good. Staff were particularly helpful, and we had a comfortable stay. The hotel was definitely value for money.
The inn was lovely the room was spacious with a very comfy bed. The staff were friendly and the food was great at the inn. Would definitely stay again.
The price of the room was too expensive for the room its self. The rooms were quite dated and needed a little renovation however the place was so lovely would definitely stay again.
Location was great.
The staff were poor on the day, young guy behind the bar not very professional and the guy from Liverpool who served our food was rude.
All around great stay spot on few nights.
Small shower in the room very hard to wash yourself well.
Very warm, clean and comfortable room
No Wi-Fi available when we stayed
Spacious room, comfortable bed, friendly staff, generous breakfast. Great location in the middle of Coniston village
Unfortunately the shower in our room (no 3) did not work. The manager, Dan, adapted quickly and allowed us to use the staff accommodation shower. It was a very busy evening in the pub and this was a quick solution, especially after we had been hiking all day.
However, our shower was not fixed during our stay and the following morning we did not want to use the staff accommodation again so we chose to forgo a shower.
Despite the staff knowing our inconvenience, we were not offered a discount or complimentary drinks or food, which would have been appropriate given the circumstances.
The room itself is a good size and has coffee tea etc and the bed is very comfy. We’ve stayed here before which is why we returned and very dog friendly.
Where to begin…
We arrived on New Year’s Eve and were advised by the manager that there had been a loss of water pressure to the shower in our room making it unusable. He explained that a plumber had attended and confirmed it was fixed; however, this unfortunately wasn’t the case. The only alternative offered was use of the staff bathroom, which wasn’t ideal, but as there were no other rooms available and we were staying for a couple of nights, we accepted this.
We were able to use the shower the following morning without issue. However, the next morning my husband went to use the staff bathroom and was met by a staff member who was asleep and was woken when he entered. The staff member then returned to sleep, which left me feeling uncomfortable using the facilities afterwards.
The manager did apologise and kindly waived the fee for our dog and offered a complimentary drink on the first night. He also advised, on the day of our departure, that he would contact us to arrange a partial refund, as we had paid a significant amount and had not been able to use the shower in our own room.
In addition to this, the following morning the chef did not turn up for breakfast, and we were initially turned away. When we returned an hour or so later, we were able to have breakfast, but with a very limited menu.
The WiFi was also not working during our stay, and with poor mobile signal in the area, this made access to our phones quite difficult.
Overall, this experience has made me question whether I would return to the Yewdale, which is a real shame as we visit Coniston multiple times every year and have always liked staying there.
I would appreciate it if the manager could contact me, as he advised he would do and hasn’t yet.
Lovely comfy room and staff where very freindly and helpful. Highly recommend our dogs loved it too 😀
The other year I had a fantastic FILLET steak, but this year not on menu just Rump steak so I had that .not very nice had a funny smell to it .Just did not feel right .so I chop it up for my dog .pretty bad .sorry
Unable to get my breakfast in morning chef was running late .had to go to a cafe up the road for my breakfast cost £26 for me and my wife .so do the right thing and get a good chef in there that way the costumer will be happy.
Your rump steak smells off .unable to face it .dog had it
Breakfast was exceptional
The shower / water pressure in room 3 was low
Small cozy rooms, very clean amd very dog friendly. Short walk to the lake. Very nice breakfast and very good pub food too.
Internet was bad. We couldnt connect at all for a day neither use our data to pur room cause the connection there is bad too. At the end thw stuff gave us the stuff log in.
The room was really comfortable, clean, and spacious. The food was delicious and they had great vegan options - the kitchen were really kind and happy to cater to fussy eaters. The staff were amazing - every single person we interacted with was friendly and helpful and really made our stay even more enjoyable. It was easy to have our dog both in the pub / restaurant and in the room.
