Good location
We had stayed in 2025 and booked same Room type which was spacious the hotel changed our booking to a very small room after payment had been taken in full. 2nd year running the Lift was still out of service and we were on 3rd floor so lots of stairs to negotiate.
Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. Great service.
The duvet on the bed was very thin.
The room was lovely and clean and very central
The outside windows could have had a bit of a clean.. just so that you could enjoy the beautiful sea view a bit more
Historical features rather than modern.
Comfortable beds
Good location with room overlooking the sea.
Hotel could do with a freshen up and redecoration.
Personnel très accueillant. Lit confortable. Très bien placé. Qualité/ Prix super. Nous sentons la volonté de bien accueillir et de prendre soins de ses clients.
I can't begin to compliment the amazing team at The Lanes Hotel enough. A special thank you to Mike, he went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect.

This hotel is in a fantastic location, making it really easy to get out and explore the area. The staff were genuinely warm, friendly and helpful throughout our stay, which always makes a big difference.
The rooms are a good size and were clean. We were also lucky enough to get a parking spot right outside the hotel, which felt like a real bonus and took away any stress around parking.
One of the standout features was the huge guest lounge overlooking the sea — such a lovely space to unwind. With games, a piano and plenty of seating, it had a relaxed, welcoming feel and is a real asset to the hotel.
We didn’t have breakfast during our stay, so can’t comment on the food, but overall we had a really pleasant experience.
A lovely property with plenty of character, though it is starting to feel a little dated in places. There were a few small things that didn’t affect our stay too much but might be worth noting for others. The sash windows can rattle in the wind and didn’t always stay open, and the shower cubicle door didn’t fully close. The bathroom itself was clean but has quite an 80s feel, with only a high overhead shower.
As expected with an older building, soundproofing is limited, so we could hear the family above us at times. The TV placement felt a little unusual, and while everything was tidy, the carpet could benefit from a deeper clean.
The cocktail bar area is more of an extension of reception, so it doesn’t quite have that cosy “stay for a drink” atmosphere. Also, while the photos online are accurate, the property feels less modern in person.
That said, it’s clear this is a well-loved hotel, and with some TLC it could really shine again. We still had an enjoyable stay overall.I rated it a 7 as, while we enjoyed our stay, the hotel feels quite dated and a little overpriced for what it currently offers; however, if location and space matter more than luxury and modernity, it’s a great place to stay.
The staff were super friendly and accommodating! Nothing was too much for them. Hotel overall was super clean and breakfast was lovely too.
Rooms were slightly dated and windows were very drafty. We were there on an exceptionally windy weekend but found the windows banging a lot and waking us up.
Good location and friendly staff.
The parking situation isn't great, only room for 5 cars in the car park, if you don't get a space it's a lottery on how close you can park to the hotel.
The location is great with a very short walk to the pier and bus stops right outside .
The beds are comfy , the pillows are great , shower is hot and the room is a good size.
We are currently traveling for 4 weeks from New Zealand and have only booked properties that offer breakfast on-site for pure convenience- sadly the property didn't offer breakfast on the days which we stayed which isn't mentioned in details at all. We actually wouldnt have booked had we of known .Just our own preference as its a massive trip and makes life easier to have breakfast on-site
We got breakfast and it was delicious 😋
The beds were not comfortable and the tv was in a bad place
