Disappointed at the lack of detail. Was reviewing hotel for my family to stay next July for my daughter’s wedding guests
Pros:

Beautiful gardens . Good parking.
Reception . Dinning room. Corridors well maintained.
Large room lovely decor
Breakfast was good and the service was excellent.

Cons:

Room not replished with towels and pillows . Tea / coffee missing including tea spoons.
Bed wasn’t made up completely.
Bed lights not plugged in and we had to move bed headboard to find plugs .
Bathroom wasn’t clean and smelt of dirty drains which I reported to housekeeper and receptionist . We just had to run hot water down shower / bath and flush toilet.
Bathroom door handle was broken and door wouldn’t shut properly unless slammed.
Window plantation blinds need a lot of maintenance and repair or replacement.
Paint work had dirty black marks on skirting boards/ window frames/ doors and window ledges.
For £300 a night it wasn’t up to standard which is a great shame as it has so much to like and staff were excellent.

Lovely venue, reception staff and greeting was excellent and gym was good.
Pros:

The breakfast was ok, i had to get up and walk around to find some help even though the dining room was empty. Took almost 30 mins to get served. Then at a cost of £20 i thought the food was average at best.

Cons:

There was a prom on during the evening, which is fine.
I sat outside to eat my evening meal and listened to the music etc so i'm no stick in the mud. The issue however was that the party moved to the front of the hotel at 11 pm and remained very noisy until 1am. If you put a couple of hundred teenage girls in one place it's going to be noisy. But there was excessive shouting and screaming until very late as people were collected. For other guests staying for work, this isn't ideal as i couldn't sleep.

Only other comment would be that for my evening meal i ordered a starter and a main - they both arrived at the same time meaning my main was cold by the time i got to it. Small thing but frustrating nonetheless.

It should be half price off what I payed
Pros:

Staff. And the food was really good 👍 4 stars for sure!!

Cons:

Room was very cold, and poorly looked after. And the location of the room felt I was in the loft. Spa would need some renovation and cleaning. There was some dirt at the bottom of the pool.

Best hotel for break in Essex
Pros:

The hotel and spa are wonderful. My husband and I had a wonderful spa weekend at this hotel. The grounds are beautiful especially the Christmas decorations, the spa area: pool, jacuzzi, sauna is the best place to relax in Essex, we also visited the pub on site: the food was very tasty and good. We had a great time there and want to go back again
