In spite of these criticisms, I would go back, just with slightly lowered expectations.
Pros:

Nice staff, except for checkout, staff member was absent from desk, causing me to wait a round a bit til I found her out in the parking lot. Comfy, cozy room, easy wifi.

Cons:

Shower/bath was very mildew covered. This really could have been taken care of; it's not that hard to fix. Also, I had to ask for soap as there was none in the bathroom when I arrived. Breakfast was a good size, but the full English meats and hashbrown patty were tough and lacked flavor both times I took the breakfast.

Poor value
Pros:

Location was excellent

Cons:

Sheets although clean were stained, no plug for the bathroom sink, generally all aspects were all very very very tired. For the price, it was was very poor value for money.

Did not book breakfast so cannot comment on that. The coffee shop across the road was excellent!

Pros:

The property is clearly lacking attention and investment, it meets minimal standards only, the staff were clearly demoralised by the lack of investment.

Average but ok for the price.
Pros:

The location is great and the parking situation is great. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Cons:

The hot tap was cold and the cold tap hot and the shower was scolding no matter what we did, so couldn’t use it. Bed was ok, the floor boards very vocal. Room was hot and the curtain was half shredded. Went to the bar for a drink but they are in the process of renovating so no soft drinks and we had the last of the gin. Lucky they had plenty of Campari.

Wouldn't stay again
Pros:

The location is good on the high street

Cons:

The room and shower and pub were all grotty and gross, not clean at all and the staff members themselves even warned us not to have breakfast there

Staff tried to be helpful and work with the limitations of a very old hotel.
Pros:

The cooked breakfast was quite hot and tasty. Staff tried to help.
Location was good.
I hope the new owners can make positive changes.

Cons:

The uneven squeaky floorboards- but the hotel is very old.
The soap was taken from the bathroom during our last day and I didn't notice until I was in the shower. When I mentioned this at reception I was told soap was available
at the counter-not helpful!
The hotel requires more thorough cleaning.
Tea and coffee at breakfast was tepid. Bar had limited beer and wine available.

This was a Fawltey Towers stay - hilarious in some ways but not what one would expect!
Pros:

Location was close to family/friends.

Cons:

Room wasn’t made up when requested. Bar had no wine or beer! When we purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere, the hotel was unable to provide a corkscrew - they merely pushed the cork into the wine bottle!

Staff good. Urgently needs renovation to rooms and sorrounding back area.
Pros:

Room size and location
Rooms clean enough and bed comfortable. Nice towels
Bathroom had a cheap refurbishment.

Cons:

Car park very dirty untidy and bins full of rubbish. Entrance into the annex where the rooms are very dirty and next to a disgusting cigarette thing! Awful very small area for having a drink outside. Whatever happened to the rose garden? Outside on the high street looks like a lovely old hotel but beyond that is a different matter. Our experience Not quite as bad as some reviews . Such a shame it is not being taken care of.
Wrongfully given parking ticket which Hôtel had to sort out
