Staff was exceptionally professional and helpful. Room is spacious and clean. Very accessible to many local amenities. Breakfast was delicious
There were very limited plugs in the room and none next to my bed. This is understandable given the building is very old in the main resort.
Great location and beautiful building. Good service too.
Tired, old fashioned (vs vintage vibe) and stuck an accommodation service charge on the bill. That’s just cheap…It needs better signage too.
Beautifully maintained in glorious parkland. The garden planting was outstanding with only yellow flowers wherever you looked. I haven’t seen that coordination before.
It would be surly to make a negative comment about such a lovely hotel.
What’s not to like? The hotel is stunning, the gardens are beautiful, tons of activities to do. The beach is close as well! And the food is really good at the hotel as well. Staff are super attentive and friendly.
At dinner, their sommelier can be out of sync with the overall restaurant waiters. For Valentine’s Day dinner the food arrived, we had to send it back to keep it warm as the wine had not arrived yet. We waited 50min for our wine. It was an incredibly busy evening but this was still a bit disappointing. The Sommelier kindly apologised and offered a dessert wine for free. She did mention that she couldn’t find the wine we wanted, there was only one bottle left, hence the delay. But, in this case, we would’ve preferred her coming back sooner and suggesting an alternative wine rather than a no explanation 50min wait. Food went back on request to keep warm, then around 30min later the waiters brought it back to the table still with no wine available and seemed unapologetic saying “wine will come soon”. 20min on top of that for the wine to arrive. We didn’t want wine anymore after that.
Location and staff
The junior suite smelt of urine. We checked in late and then sat on the terrace with the doors open to the lounge. We didn’t realise until we returned after dinner that there was a smell of urine in the lounge. Next morning the smell was stronger. Told reception when we checked out and they said they would investigate. But really they should have gone immediately and taken money off the room.
Beautiful grounds, wonderful breakfast, great food in Kitchen Restaurant.
Generally very friendly staff.
Nice room, though we were given an old one that was a bit tired - I understand it is due for refurbishment.
Very nice facial.
Dreadful food and service in Pool Bar Restaurant.
Money grabbing attitude in spa.
Pool and hydro too busy (many day guests), meaning the few loungers and chairs often unavailable to hotel residents.
Hidden service charges added on everything at check-out, including the room rate - which is not normal when you make a hotel booking.
The staff are superbly professional.
Its not cheap, but its good value, which is more important to me.
We were really well looked after. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary so the staff went the extra mile and gave us a room upgrade, champagne and fruit on arrival and complimentary puddings. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay so enjoyable and memorable.
We kept getting lost in the building. I think a few more signs would help guests find their way around.
Wonderful setting
Excellent accommodation
Helpful staff
AS ever the breakfasts were delicious, the room very comfortable and the staff friendly and attentive.

It’s in the country and lovely old building.
Nothing
All the staff were amazing and cold not do enough - the room was lovely and as it was our anniversary they left a card in the room and a bottle plus sweets. The breakfast was the best I have had in years.
Nothing
The hotel was luxurious in every way. The staff were most helpful and friendly. The food and drink was excellent.
