staff helpful and friendly, room a decent size. good location just off the main road but private.
The property is tired, windows painted up, decor need a lot of investment.
Staff were fantastic and so welcoming to our dog.
Rooms need painting especially the skirting boards.
Comfortable room. Pleasant communal areas, nice bar and restaurant. Good breakfast. Staff made a big fuss of dog.
Disappointed with food order severely times. Both my husband and I had a sandwich lunch in bar on arrival which were not as menu and had to be returned to kitchen. One sandwich still came 2nd time on wrong bread! This was repeated at dinner on both nights - ingredients missing from dish ordered. Obviously something not gelling in kitchen.
Set in a lovely location and an ideal base to explore the surrounding area. Room rate was reasonable too.
The restaurant and bar service (or lack of) really lets the hotel down. Drinks arrived after we were half way through our starters and the paired dessert wines arrived after we had finished our desserts! Was really hard to get a waitress' attention too. At no point were we asked if we wanted anything else either or had our water topped up. Felt like very amateur staff for a supposed fine dining restaurant. They definitely need more training, even if they have been there a while. The website is very misleading too as it says the restaurant is fine dining but it's really just glorified pub grub and the decor in the restaurant is really cheap and tacky with a tropical theme! Not what you'd expect of a lovely manor house. It's definitely not classy and contemporary as the tasteful website portrays. Certainly didn't meet our expectations and we left feeling very disappointed. Especially as it was a special occasion.

Not many places to walk nearby that we saw nor any walkable restaurants outside hotel. Hotel restaurant was good though.

Rooms ready for refurbishing and dogs allowed in restaurant for breakfast which is not hygienic
As my friend is vegan the breakfast choices were ideal.
Staff were very friendly & as there is no lift they happily carried our bags up and down the stairs for us.
We would happily stay again.
There could have been more or different choices for vegetarian/vegan on the menu.
We ate before we came as the choice was cauliflower steak & the price seemed a bit steep when compared with what the price is for an actual beef steak.
Could do with a bit of colour in the rooms too neutral for me but not uncommon for a hotel.

The staff are so lovely, welcoming and helpful here at reception, bar and restaurant. We were shown to our room rather than just handed a key and told which floor it was on. We just had a standard room but it was large and had a great bathroom with a walk in shower. We had a meal in the restaurant which was superb.

Restaurant was expensive and food not that great for the money.
Nice part of the country just off the A1 the breakfast was very nice with a good selection of food
The bedroom was very hot and the window didn't open it had double glazing behind the original window this made the room very stuffy and very hot at night they did provide a fan but you don't want to use it through the night, I didn't see any windows open in the whole hotel the windows in the bar had the old rope from inside the window hanging out.
Everything every member of the staff was very welcoming and friendly and provide such a excellent standard of service

The room had a garden
The restaurant was awful, the staff were slow and inattentive and I sent my steak back after it arrived in a plate full of blood ! I was compensated after speaking with the manager, however it completely spoilt our stay
