Always love the place not this time.
Pros:

We come hear about 5 times a year. We have a caravan in Devon so its a half way stop. We have never complained before as everything was always good. But this time wow. Firstly I'm disabled so we had a disabled room everything looked great and very clean as usual. We went out for something to eat came back and went to bed god I had the shock of my life I nearly fell of the bed. The mattress was tilted which I thought. Lifted up and there were 2 sponges instead of a mattress. I had to take the 1 sponge out and sleep on the floor. Told the receptionist in the morning she could not believe it. Went for breakfast and the sausages were burnt tomatoes was the day befores bacon hard the egg and toast was lovely. The breakfast has always been nice. It's alright saying sorry about that. It's called the chef should not send bad stuff to s customer. Shame because we really like it there. And a few people can spoil it.

Cons:

Everything read above.

Pros:

Room adequate. Breakfast good. Other amenities bad. No evening meal. That very much a part of my stay - can’t walk far to find restaurants. Couldn’t even get a coffee at times.
Staff doing their best coping with many complaints

Cons:

Evening meal. Better bar area. The bar needs to be much more visitor friendly

Fire alarm at 8am in the morning but luckily a false alarm, but not the hotels fault.

Very clean, friendly staff
Pros:

This is an old hotel, but my room was recently decorated and spotless. Not shabby looking or tired at all, and the bathroom was large and modern with nice toiletries. The location is great- I had a view of the pier- and the staff are really lovely and friendly. There was oatmilk and biscuits in the tea-making area in my room, which was a lovely surprise.

The bar downstairs was nice and comfy, although I didn't order anything.

The breakfast was great! I'm lactose intolerant, so when they brought my coffee I said I don't need the milk. The man serving me immediately offered to swap the butter on the table for vegan margarine, which was thoughtful. When I ordered my cooked breakfast, it came super quickly and was cooked to perfection. A good sturdy start to my day.

Cons:

Even though I didn't have the heating on, my room was too warm. Maybe this was because of the towel rail in the bathroom which was heated and couldn't be switched off. But then I guess the temperature is set for their elderly customers, which makes sense.

I am glad I paid extra for a room with a bathroom, as during my stay I noticed a lot of the separate bathrooms were out of order.
