The entrance, stairs and restaurant/bar are all dramatic and give the atmosphere of a grand hotel of years gone by. The staff are delightful and worked very hard to make our stay a pleasant experience. The food was good and the view from the restaurant is mesmerising.
We selected a room without a view but it was really pokey, badly laid out (only one side table and lamp) and not overly clean. I considered paying for a room with a sea/harbour view but the cost would have been considerable and decided against.
Perfect setting and lovely history to the hotel, old world charm!

Excellent location overlooking the harbour. The room was good but when we arrived we were given a room without a bath, (a bath was a feature of the room description) after a brief conversation with the receptionist she immediately changed our room to one with a bath.
The food was good although the half board package we booked only allowed £25 each for dinner, which I wasn't aware of (although it was probably on the terms and conditions which I only briefly read, so my bad). Needless to say we had to pay extra including service charges, even though I tipped the waiting staff.
The bathroom in the room was dated and very cramped.
The whole hotel is rather dated, in particular the main breakfast room. The conservatory restaurant, with views over the bay, was closed for renovations, which we weren't informed of at the time of booking.
The breakfast had a good choice of continental and cooked. The full Scottish breakfast on the first morning was good. My wife only ordered sausage and bacon, the first morning she was given 2 sausages and 2 rashers of bacon. On our second morning she was given only 1 sausage and 1 rasher of bacon. My full Scottish breakfast had less on it compared to the previous morning although I dare say had we asked for more they would have done so.

La vue de la salle de restaurant est imprenable et le petit déjeuner est très bon. Il y a également une salle de billard accessible à toute heure et très bien décorée.
Le lit n'était pas des plus confortable mais nous y avons tout de même bien dormi.
