Best thing is the Fabulous helpful staff both when we arrived very late to check in and in the morning when serving a hearty breakfast.

We stayed at the Strands Hotel for two nights when visiting the Lakes for a walk up Scafell Pike. The hotel was GREAT!! Breakfast was fab, dinner was great and the atmosphere in the bar tremendous. We'll definitely be returning!! Thank you to the whole team who made us so welcome
Staff, food and location are great. A big shout out for the staff both behind the bar and in the kitchen, particularly as it was a busy Easter weekend with large parties of people staying. Over the two day stay our evening meals and breakfasts were absolutely delicious.
They are currently mid renovation of the Screes which is where we were staying-the bedroom was ok but the bathroom was pretty small and dated. They were offering a complimentary drink and a free pudding or starter as compensation for the inconvenience which was much appreciated.
Amazing hosts. Wonderful family running the place. Fantastic atmosphere. Excellent microbrewery with a brilliant selection of ales. The food was perfection- highly recommend their pie! Great location and value for money. Would absolutely recommend.
The new landlord and team are excellent . Especially Chelsea , Tom and David .

The breakfast was delicious. Location perfect for exploring wasdale. Very friendly staff and well run hotel/pub.
Our bed was so uncomfortable. I’ve let the staff know and hopefully they will replace the mattress that we think had a spring or two missing. The mattress was so wobbly and meant we had very bad nights sleep. As the pub was fully booked we couldn’t move rooms which was a real shame considering we had spent so much on the stay.
Breakfast is the best I’ve ever had!

For me and my hubby was perfect as it was close to Scafell Pike, we needed a place to rest and wind down after the climb.
Had a nice pub, really nice food and friendly atmosphere, very attentive staff.
I didn't like the fact that we couldn't stay any longer.

Nothing really … room was a little ‘dated’ but that was all 😀
Brilliant stay. Excellent staff, fantastic beer and very good food ( cooked breakfast and sandwiches in bar in particular) in a perfect location.
Ensuite shower room was very small and as there was no working extraction system will be prone to mould.
It had everything needed and more, plus staff who couldn’t do enough for you. We felt right at home & the food for breakfast and dinners was excellent!

We stayed two nights and had a great time. The staff were friendly and very helpful, we ate both nights and had breakfast, all the food was excellent. We enjoyed the quiz night too. The place had a friendly welcoming atmosphere and we would happily come back and recommend to others
It's maybe due a little (very little) make over, artex ceilings to go?
The food was great, to have a place located where it is have a couple of vegan options was amazing. On top of having the options they seem to really care about it so it was also delicious
