Location was a bit eerie compared to other areas in the Lakes but great location for a short stay if doing Scafel
Was housed in the building across the road which is old and dies need modernising
Everything. Utterly authentic for the beauty and remoteness of the Lake District
Nothing
The location was beautiful; close to the lake, lovely view, peaceful. The staff were really nice and friendly.
The room was basic, which is fine for an Inn, but some small improvements would go a long way to make it more comfortable. The mattress was really old and you could feel the springs. The curtains did no do much to keep the light out. Mainly, however, the bathroom really needs an up-date. There was mould on the ceiling and all around the bath. The door didn't close properly (which is annoying for privacy and because even more light came into the room). The wallpaper came off the walls, the bath panel was loose, there were spider webs all over the ceiling. For the price, I would have expected a bit more.
Great location, very good accommodation, good food and friendly and welcoming. Overall we had enjoyed our stay. The owner placed a notice in the rooms explaining hotel in a transition period. We appreciated the efforts made
We could not think of anything significant that we did not like. As the hotel is currently undergoing renovations & improvements, we understand this and felt the overall experience was very good.
Food drink staff and location were 100%
I've still got a spring in my back from the mattress and the 80s have been and gone, the room room eight single room needs bringing up to date
Beautiful location. Quiet. Comfortable bed. Traditional style pub with accommodation. Breakfast available at property.
We were allocated a very small room which had a sloping ceiling over the bed, meaning you'd easily bang your head. When we enquired with the lady on duty and she gave us a more acceptable room. Considering there were few people staying,, why give customers such a poor room?
Staff very friendly and welcoming
Good location for Western Fells
Awesome location. Wonderful owners and great food
Nothing. It was perfect
Breakfast was lovely (it was included within the booking) quality ingredients and enough to keep me going for our Scafell hike. We also had dinner at the Pub when we arrived and it was exceptional, our group all had different mains and all of us enjoyed. Murphy's served at the bar and Plenty of Parking available
Bath took a while to get warm in the morning, other than that all facilities were exceptional. I'd defo recommend staying here if you were looking at hiking Scafell Pike and i will definitely return here.
the bar social aspect of the establishment was lovely, staff were friendly and the food they served was great.
location to Scafell Pike was good, approximate 15 minute drive.
Accommodation very dated, shower was electric and very poor pressure (useless). Basin only served cold water.
The location is excellent for climbing trips around Wast Water.
This is a great local pub, great food and great staff.
All good.
meals were traditional pub food and the steak and ale pie was very good
