Great location, close to plenty of trails. Really good value for money, breakfast and free wifi included, and the staff were lovely and very helpful. Could come and go as I pleased and breakfast ran until 11.00 allowing for early morning hikes.
This place was perfect for our group of walkers exploring the Peaks for a week. We needed an overnight stay and were able to get 6 rooms booked for the night in Castleton, for a reasonable price, meaning no one had to share. This is not luxurious, but served our purpose perfectly as we could enjoy the evening in Castleton, get decent beer and a good breakfast to set us up for the next day.
Small bathroom. Slightly tired standard of decoration.
Staff were friendly, breakfast was good. Good central location
My window had a very poor seal around it, which let a lot of cold air into the room. An electric heater was provided in the room, but I wouldn't say it was sufficient. The Wi-Fi was very patchy, perhaps this was because it was on the top floor, but I wouldn't say it was very reliable Wi-Fi.
Excellent country pub with perfect setting and accomodation
The toilet and shower were good. The Internet was also good
The bed, the heating which i couldn't control from the room and the TV connection.
Good location. Good sized room. Nice shower.
Beds were so soft if you sat on the end you just fell off. The table was in sections and if you leant on it it seemed to tip open. No chair to sit on.
Central location
Friendly staff
Breakfast good
Nearby free parking
Our room was very tired and shabby.
Dirty tile grout. Floor in bathroom had dirt on it especially around the toilet.
Toilet roll holder falling off the wall. All things that could be easily fixed.
The whole hotel would benefit from a refurbishment.
Nice twin room in a historic setting in a very pretty town. Excellent location for Peak District walks inc. Mam Tor and Kinder Scout. Breakfast was excellent and included in room price.
Room was very warm even with the radiator turned down.
Central location
Car parking was difficult
Great location and friendly staff.
Beautiful, warming and comfortable, staff were friendly and helpfull, room was cosy, bed was perfect, food was amazing, no faults at all, would recommend to anyone wanting a break in Castleton and perfectly situated.
Breakfast was lovely. Staff in morning breakfast room. friendly and well dressed. It is and old hotel quirky with uneven floor. Rooms spacious
Only 3/4 bed in room large enough to have a normal size. Shower was large but had black mildew. Which I know can be kept to a minimum.
Little tired needs bit of TLC.
Brilliant location for walking, drinking and they have the best burgers ever.
Nothing to dislike.
You couldn't have a more central location for this ancient pub with just a handful of rooms. This is the first time I've stayed at the Nags Head but the staff were lovely, the beer was excellent, and the morning breakfast completely exceeded expectations! There is an exclusive car park right next door (with permit) so you don't have to carry bags very far. We stayed in Derwent and the view was over the historic graveyard complete with beautiful church and a complete view of the Castle - arguably one of the best viewpoints of this place. We even had a 4 poster bed! What a nice surprise, and a great nights sleep. Nice modern bathroom and good heating.
The desk chair was really rickety and couldn't be sat on for fear of it collapsing but given that the room was full of antique furniture it was completely in keeping with the rest of the room. Everything else was just as we expected and it really wasn't much of an issue for us
Welcoming friendly staff and a superb spacious room. Central location. Good breakfast even for vegetarians with fresh juices and quorn sausages. Comfortable bed and big fluffy towels. Could even open the windows for fresh air! Appreciated the car parking space but the carpark gets full up with lunchtime visitors. Get a parking voucher from reception for your dashboard if there’s a free space. The small print says it’s valid till midnight only though weirdly.
Bar menu didn’t have much choice for vegetarians other than a couple of the usual options but there were plenty of other places to eat.
