The open fire

Cons:

The bathroom was small and while everything a bit old fashioned - it was quirky - and some of the furniture was class ... it just needed a bit more styling for my taste

Alright stay in a beautiful location
Pros:

Beautiful location and drinking in the pub was nice. The free breakfast was a bonus.

Cons:

The cleanliness wasn’t up to scratch unfortunately, for example there was lots of hair in the shower.

Great Location- constructive feedback not a complaint
Pros:

I love the property as an Ye olde pub and its location is perfect for all local walks of Mam Tor and other Ethels. Didn’t need to use the car at all. Breakfast was excellent, we all had different food and all was cooked to perfection. Amongst local shops and other bars.

Cons:

Everything is a little tired, needs deep cleaning and needs maintenance, tile in Derwent bathroom near sink fell off as it’s loose and replacement of some things. Love the old furniture but a bit of love would drag more customers and change the feel. It feels tired but that can be changed. Loved the friendly ghost in the end room. Staff friendly and happy to help.

Pros:

Perfect location for starting point for walks. Breakfast very good. Good range of craft ales.

Cons:

En suite bathroom in room needs updating . Bed too small for two adults. Just a standard double.

Great value for money
Pros:

Great location, centre of Castleton. Managed to get parked in the pub car park, which was a bonus. Lovely staff, all friendly and approachable. Food excellent. Beer excellent.

Pros:

Great location at a great price. Everything is incredibly scenic and there's the town of castleton and the whole peak district on your doorstep. I really liked it.

Cons:

I wouldn't say I disliked, but more to manage expectations. It's an older pub with limited facilities at a great price. If you're expecting the world, you'll be disappointed.

Good value for money but rooms need some TLC.
Pros:

The staff were very helpful and friendly and the location is perfect. Bed very comfortable. The food in the bar was exceptional. Really delicious.

Cons:

The rooms are tired and could really do with a re-fresh. Mould on the grout in the bathroom and the shower was rubbish.

Pros:

The location is great, and the pub itself as well. The breakfast was very tasty.

Cons:

The room wasn't very clean. The room defenitely needs some TLC. The temperature in the shower fluctuates. There was a loose socket, and the light above the shower was loose and taped up, which is dangerous.

Lovely old pub, good location.

Property was centrally located.
Room was cosy.
Staff were excellent and accommodating.
Food was excellent, both breakfast and evening meal.

Cons:

The mattress on the bed spoilt a lovely stay.
It was uncomfortable and definitely ready for changing.
We hardly slept at all and could not have managed a second night.
