I should have booked a chain.
Pros:

The room was clean.

Cons:

Very sad looking furniture, it's all 80's/90's chipboard furniture that's had a coat of grey paint slapped on it, which of course is coming off on every edge.

Dated "brass" light switches & fittings that have seen better days. The main light in my room was falling apart with wires visible.

Who on earth decided bright white LEDs needed to be fitted as bed lighting? Turning on one of the reading lamps lit the room more than the 4 ceiling lights!

The curtains were ill fitting and sun-bleached. The bed was hard as nails. The motorway is VERY loud - even with the windows closed there is an enormous (broken) air vent that the sound pours through.

I didn't book Breakfast as wanted to see how I felt in the morning, I enquired on check-in and was told as I hadn't booked it, I couldn't have it (I was quite happy to pay the £8 as advertised on booking.com)

Just feels like a very sad, run-down hotel that has been sucked dry the last 20 years.

Nice location but no atmosphere and cold in the reception area. Nowhere to relax other than our room
Pros:

Location was lovely and room very spacious

Cons:

We were unable to have an evening meal and the bar and restaurant was dark cold and empty. We had to drive to a different restaurant. Bed was also uncomfortable and soft.
