Important information:

Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement and at an additional cost, on the condition that owners accept full responsibility for the cost of any damage or extra cleaning needed. Dogs are not allowed to be left in the room unattended. A maximum of 2 dogs are allowed per room. All dogs must be well behaved. No other pets are accepted.

Christmas day rates include an evening buffet and quiz. Please note that the buffet will only be available in the evening.

On 31st December, food is served from 12:00 (midday) until 15:00 with a normal menu. From 18:00 until 21:30 a special fixed price menu is GBP 49 per person. Please call the hotel for details prior to arrival.
A deposit may be required at the property.

Lovely stay.
Pros:

Lovely hotel, clean and welcoming. Staff are pleasant and obviously happy at work.

All very enjoyable and as good as the last stay two years back. Lovely clean friendly place to stay.

Tasteful modern accommodation in a characterful historic quiet setting, very well done and appreciated.

Cons:

Just watch for the low lights over the upper dining room tables though, stand up slowly is best and mind your head!
Well worth the detour and diversion due to the essential roadworks at present.

For one night it was fine.
Pros:

Thee room and evening meal was good value. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Cons:

The breakfast was disappointing. No natural yoghurt, and only packet cereals. No croissants or pastries. A limited choice for anyone who does not want a’cooked’ breakfast.

Would very happily return
Pros:

The staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. We weren't that happy with the initial room they have us (a bit dark and musty), but happily upgraded us to a family suit, which was very comfortable and spacious.
Or evening meal was good, steak & ale pie with mash and veg, but plenty of other options available too. Great selection of real ales and well kept.
Breakfast was very good. We had the full English. Ingredients were all locally sourced and clearly of good quality. The breakfast staff were cheerful and helpful, nothing was too much trouble - clearly well trained.

Cons:

The rooms were a little musty and we wondered whether they could benefit from a bit of an airing - but was only a minor issue.
Another very minor point, we did request a second pot of tea at breakfast and suspect that the previous teabag simply had got water poured on top, as it seemed a little weak.
