Nice and quiet location. at a not far walking distance from the city center. Helpful and efficient staff.
The access to the upper floor is a bit hard with luggage.
Good location
Noisy at night but room is above the pub
Das Zimmer war gross.!!
Das Bett sehr bequem.!!
Das Badezimmer hell und eine schöne Dusche.!
Seperater Eingang
Es war ein schöner Aufenthalt!
Good size room. Very clean. Easy checkin process. Meals were excellent and reasonably priced.friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
More signs on the accommodation floors as finding your way through the maze of stairs for the upper floos units is very confusing .
The receptionist was fine and the room was clean.
The noise level in the evening was unacceptable with loud music until midnight. For almost £150 room only rate it is reasonable to expect better as it is a lot to pay for otherwise unremarkable accommodation in a suburban location.
A good value, comfortable hotel , that was well located with parking.
The stairs.
The staff were attentive and easy to talk to with a smile and a sense of humour.
Nice big spacious room. Clean bathroom and enough towels for all of us. Great location too
A bit noisy for the first night of our stay as the room was right on top of the pub garden and we had to leave some windows open because of the heat wave
Location is close to the city and Bute park. Room was quiet at night and the size of room was good. The breakfasts were excellent and quality was good. The options to order different size meals was good. The staff were friendly and cheerful. It wasn't too busy or crowded. Design is modern and practical but respecting the history of the building. Plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the hot weather and also shade and cooler spots
We had a room on the top floor and so had to climb plenty of stairs. This meant we were not affected by any possible noise from the bar at night. The stairways were very warm.
Central for where we needed very clean
Nothing
Central location. Quiet.
Stairs & entrance feel a little 'unloved'.
First impression where that the building is lovely, old school pub bar area, so lost in today's world. Lovely outdoor area where I enjoyed the amazing breakfast each morning. It is a really great idea to have the three sizes of breakfast which not only reduces waste but allows for residents to not feel awful if they have not finished an over sized breakfast (my wife always does). The staff are the second gem here, everyone is attentive and very friendly-anything required is sourced and sorted straight away also- true South Walian hospitality! Things that could help improve would be: a lift (or help with bags for older people walking up the three flights of stairs to upper level rooms; irons/ironing boards in the rooms rather than having to source from the cleaners; smart TVs rather than just freeview so people can access Netflix/Prime etc and more powerful fans in the room as when we stayed it was very hot that weekend and the room was very warm to sleep in. Another very good experience was that we were only a 5 minute walk to the park (over the road and turn left at the next junction and the park is straight ahead) and the River Taff, where every hour ferry boats leave to the Bay and back, where there are numerous bars with artists singing etc and the lovely theatre (maybe advertise this more in the rooms?). On top of the cooked breakfast being fantastic, the food from the menu was also tremendous - my wife had the buffalo loaded fries and has still not shut up about them three days later haha. All in all, we don't need to look anywhere else in the future when coming to Cardiff -just absolutely brilliant and value for money to boot!
Plentiful breakfast, but my eggs tasted as if they'd been cooked in bacon fat (not a biggie, just not expecting that). The room was compact & bijou, but lacked proper storage (no wardrobe for hanging items for example). Great bathroom facilities, lovely linen. Bed was really comfy.
Lack of in-room storage ...
