The Merrie Lion

Wonderful stay at Merrie Lion, rooms are next to the pub so lovely and quiet when you go to bed. Food in the pub was excellent with a lovely atmosphere. We will be back.

We had an evening meal with our family. The food was excellent, reasonably priced and a good choice. The breakfast in the morning was inclusive of the room price and was also excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was very spacious and bed large and comfortable.

A few minor things which ned seeing to like the door handle to the room was coming off and needed to use the key to open and close the door. Floor in the bathroom needs re grouting as looks a little grubby. On the whole a very pleasant stay and would definitely stay again. Breakfast was also very nice.

We had a really enjoyable stay and thought the accommodation was excellent value for money.

The property was very clean and the beds were really comfortable. The room had everything we needed, including tea , coffee-making facilities, Biscoff biscuits and even hot chocolate, which was a nice touch. There was also a decent-sized Smart TV in the room.

One thing we really liked was that the accommodation is separate from the pub. You’re given one key which opens both the main entrance to the rooms and your own room, so you can come and go as you please without having to disturb the landlord or landlady. It also meant there was no noise from the pub when we wanted an early night.

A great cooked breakfast was included in the price too. When you arrive, you’re given a breakfast sheet where you simply tick what you’d like to eat. We thought this was a great idea as everyone gets exactly what they want and there’s no confusion with the order.

Overall, it was a very clean, comfortable and welcoming place to stay, with everything we needed and a lovely breakfast included. We would definitely stay here again and would happily recommend it to others.

Daphne and her team were very welcoming. The room we had was very clean and spacious. We had breakfast and evening meals there and there was a local band playing live. All in all we had an incredible few days there. Thank you Daphne for your friendliness, hospitality and a blanket for while we watched the entertainment 😀 Absolutely would recommend 👌.
