So clean and welcoming. Staff and service were exceptional
Nothing
Great rooms and very clean.
Reason for staying was too attend a family funeral and we had several rooms booked. The staff were so friendly and accommodating.
That we only stayed for one night, would love to return for longer
The room was updated, the bathroom was very well done
Nothing
Everything was delightful - helpful friendly staff, the whole place was smart and well kept, in lovely gardens and the pool and Jacuzzi were a real treat
The breakfasts were amazing too!
Enjoyed our one night stay, had a great chat with the owner and they are renewing things as they go with a fivecyear plan
It was all good, staff our always excellent
Service was excellent, staff super friendly. Breakfast fantastic!!
Only the weather, but nobody can help that!
We stayed one night at the Stoke Lodge hotel booking two rooms, one a sea view and one an inland view. Both on the first floor. We booked breakfast for just one of the rooms as my son could not join us for that meal but all of us ate dinner.
The welcome was warm and friendly. The hotel is family owned and clearly being developed with great vision.
The public rooms at the hotel have been beautifully renovated. A cosy bar with lounge where breakfast is served, a larger reception room for warmer months and the restaurant. The restaurant has a less intimate feel than the bar / lounge but the food more than compensated for that.
In fact the food is wonderful. Breakfast was all homemade. I ate my fill of homemade granola, yoghurt, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Plentiful choice and plentiful servings. Dinner was excellent, we chose the set menu for all 3 of us and found rhe food imaginative and delicious.
The service throughout was warm and thoughtful.
We are aware that the hotel has been renovated with some rooms fully completed and other more partially. Our sea view was very pretty but on reflection we should have chosen a downstairs room and booked a fully renovated room.
We dropped a star as the bed in our room was uncomfortable and felt like it was sloping in certain places. My husband said he slept very badly. The bathroom was functional but lacked newness and style compared to the price we paid. Others may not feel that, but this review reflects our own experience.
The setting was tranquil, clearly there were beautiful places nearby, Dartmouth was a 10 minute drive. It was a shame we did not have longer.
We only had one night but I am sure we will go again. Our seaview room and ensuite looked recently refurbed and were spotless. As it was Valentine's, there was some super towel-art and rose petals on the bed as well as flowers and prosecco.
All the staff ( including Louise who was so helpful on the phone) are friendly and very efficient.
The food was fantastic. It was a superb Valentine's set menu and every single thing was delicious, from the tasty breads and butters onwards. It was beautifully presented too. We eat in lots of places and this is the best meal we have had in a long time. Breakfast was also top quality with a lovely selection.Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs/ avocado and poached eggs on sourdough were perfect.
We are not dog lovers and almost didn't book because the hotel looks so dog friendly but dogs are only allowed in certain rooms and are not allowed in the restaurant where dinner and breakfast are taken, so they were no problem.
Really glad we came and am sure we will return and we'll try the pool then!
It’s a lovely period property, that could maybe need a little updating. But it’s very clean and well maintained.
The staff, everyone I came into contact with were very helpful and caring. Nothing was to much trouble
We've just had a fantastic stay at the hotel with our two dogs. The staff were so friendly and approachable. They made a real fuss of our dogs which makes a welcome change as it was refreshing to visit a dog friendly hotel rather than a 'dog tolerant' one - a huge difference. The food was very good, the room was very comfortable and the facilities were excellent. We are looking forward to our next stay.
The hotel is in a great location so you can see the see. A warm welcome and very friendly staff. Plenty of parking. Comfortable large bed, very lovely room, fabulous shower. Breakfast was great again lovely staff, had dinner both nights which was fab. A nice bar so we could have a drink before dinner. It was my birthday and I totally enjoyed my stay, will definitely be going back.
The only thing we didn’t like was the weather :)
Friendly welcome and service during our stay. Modern facilities and attractive location.
The storm when we visited! But is was January.

Staff were so helpful and welcoming. Lovely indoor pool. Rooms spacious and clean
Thank you Stoke Lodge Hotel for an enjoyable visit. At such a quiet time of the year, we wondered how dinner would be? We were very pleasantly surprised - the food was really high quality. The homemade breads and flavoured butters that started were delightful, as was the skate wing which was perfectly cooked. The breakfast was among the best I've had at any price of hotel; loved the overnight oats, freshly baked muffins and pastries, the homemade yoghurts and granola. All lovely. And then even a cooked breakfast too - it took hours of hiking to burn all that off! It was nice to have a swim in the indoor pool after arriving on a very rainy and miserable evening. Staff are super friendly and helpful. I understand the current owners have made many improvements since they purchased two years ago, including renaturing the gardens around the hotel (brilliant, well done) and updating internally.
The food was fantastic and I would say good value for money. The restaurant was light and airy , and the waitresses really did go the extra mile. The breakfast menu was excellent with pretty much everything was covered. The evening meal was varied with plenty of options to choose from.
Honestly there was nothing to not like.
The staff was so friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant was great! Was nice to have the option to book in for dinner as I was traveling alone and it made it so easy. I will definitely be back!
