The hotel was better than expected, perfect location. Staffs were friendly, clean room and breakfast was brilliant.
We stay here regularly and love it. The staff are particularly friendly and efficient. Great location, plenty of parking, good food.
They do weddings and events. These can be a bit noisy so it pays to check before booking.
The food was exceptional
Location
Areas in rooms look little tired , reception and bar area all modern and fresh
Santos is beautiful. A very historic building (thank you Dawn for the guide) and the atmosphere was cosy and inviting. There was a party going on that night but our room was far enough away that it didn’t bother us. Room service was much faster than advised and the girls delivering it couldn’t do enough to help. The food we ordered was ‘small platters’ but it was quite substantial! Dawn at reception was so friendly and funny both when we arrived and when we left this morning. Thank you to everyone at Santos for making our stay so wonderful even though you were busy with parties - my husband had a lovely birthday weekend.
There was nothing I didn’t like. The bathroom was huge and beautiful with marble tiles. The bath was big enough for two - woo hoo! The only thing maybe is the pillows were a little too firm for my liking.
Our second time staying with Santos hotel, great location for us to visit family and friends. Staff very welcoming and kind, nice to talk to and cannot do enough for you. Beautiful Christmas decorations and fire places to keep warm. Food is amazing, so much flavour and great quality! The view at the end of the car park across the valley is spectacular. Thank you for another great stay! See you soon 😊
We found the hotel to be quite dated, and unfortunately our experience was affected by a serious issue with the room we were given. We were placed in a disabled-access room, which had a very heavy sliding bathroom door. Not only did the door refuse to open properly—resulting in me becoming stuck inside the bathroom—but once we finally managed to get it open, it then wouldn’t close again. This meant we had no privacy when using the bathroom. Although we reported the issue and the hotel staff fixed it, the problem reoccurred after the second use. This was especially concerning because, had we actually been disabled guests and become trapped during an emergency such as a fire, we wouldn’t have stood a chance.
In addition, the lady with curly hair at reception was not very friendly or welcoming, which didn’t give us the best first impression.
On a positive note, the breakfast staff were excellent—very friendly, attentive, and accommodating. They even waited for me on Sunday morning when I was slightly delayed after my bike ride, which I really appreciated. The bar staff were also very friendly and created a pleasant atmosphere in the evenings.
Overall, while there were some highlights, the safety issues and lack of welcome at reception left us disappointed.
Location nice, food very tasty, staff very friendly.
The heat in the room, the hotel was extremely hot and found it hard to sleep due to this. The rooms maybe need a little updating. The door to the room was a little hard to unlock and lock.
Staff where lovely especially the ladies serving breakfast
Decor in our Room a bit to much ' Laura Ashley '
Bed not comfortable
The shower screen cumbersome
