Hotel California crossed with the Bates Motel
Pros:

Nothing really

Cons:

Having booked to NOT informed until I checked in that my room had no window and to check in I had to accept. The double bed in the broom cupboard was 2 single and the hot water took an age to come all the way down to the broom cupboard

You get what you pay for
Pros:

I’ve stayed here a few times. The first time I had an excellent room but the last few times the room I’ve been given was in need of TLC.
The location is near the M3 and Basingstoke and very near to where my mum lives Normally breakfast is buffet style with some foods only lukewarm and hard fried eggs, yesterday we were served freshly prepared English breakfast which was great

Cons:

The room needed some TLC.
There was mould evident on the ceiling in the bathroom and lime stains around the basin taps.
To get to the room which was the furthest away from reception you had to negotiate several sets of stairs, no lift available. My mobility is poor and I found taking a small overnight case up the stairs very difficult
The hotel is on the A30 and a little worrying when you leave due to the fast moving traffic
They only offer a 3 course evening meal and no bar snacks ( though advertised in the literature). If you want to leave the hotel there are various pubs and takeaways nearby and Hook it self isn’t far
I booked with Booking.Com with the internet price, which is very reasonable but obviously you don’t get the better rooms!

acceptable
Pros:

staff were friendly location was good parking was good room was up to standard

Cons:

hotel felt a bit jaded and old fashioned shower was only just ok gym facility had lots of old equipment and had a chaotic layout 3 out of the 4 treadmills did not work the gym assistant got one working and was very helpful but should not have had to do this. There was a leak in top half of gym with a bucket under it. main restaurant was not open and food was pub grub - perfectly acceptable for me but maybe not for everyone?

You get what you pay for
Pros:

My mum lives in Basingstoke and I’m in West Sussex . She currently needs more support so I’m visiting once or twice a week. If twice then o stay overnight. The hotel isn’t far and it’s cheap . There’s breakfast available which is edible though like warm but you get what you pay for.

Cons:

The first time I had a lovely room on the ground floor. This week I was on the second floor. This room was older and needed some TLC. Breakfast is edible but the all English was like warm
