Perfect hotel for a short break
Pros:

Perfect location for our stay. Staff were all friendly and very attentive. Parking was very convenient. Excellent choice at breakfast and everything we had was delicious. The room was very comfortable, we were impressed by the attention to detail.

An excellent hotel normally - but visit ruined by building works. Bad management.
Pros:

Room was Okay and bathroom warm. Breakfast was good.

Cons:

Bar was closed for renovation - in May?
Unable to get a drink at the hotel as waiter service in lounge was poor.
Went to pub next door.
Why would the management decide to close the bar for eight weeks in April/May when fully booked?
Wouldn't it have made more sense to close in January?
Not informed of the bar closure when booking or before arrival.
Not offered any compensation by the hotel for the inconvenience.

A fabulous place

Enjoyed our stay at The Crown, but noisy early riser was not acceptable
Pros:

The location was perfect for our stay in Stamford. We found the staff very friendly and extremely helpful. The food was excellent both at breakfast and evening meals offering a wide range of alternatives. Our room was cosy, as described, and was clean and tidy. However, the bathroom lacked storage for our toiletries.The bed was comfortable and we appreciated the two armchairs in our room.

Cons:

There was only one issue. Noise from neighbouring rooms, particularly when we were woken up earlier than usual each morning (around 06.00) when someone was moving about in the room above us and this became louder when they used their shower. If this issue hadn't existed, they would have received much higher ratings from us.

A good hotel and we would be happy to go again.
Pros:

Staff and food were good. The hotel was a bit disturbed by building work but the staff worked round it.

Cons:

The shower room would benefit from a shelf over the sink in stead of over the toilet!!
There was an absence of dessert forks in the dining room.

A comfortable welcoming hotel with excellent accommodation and a good bar and restaurant.
Pros:

A warm helpful welcome. Charming, spacious rooms. Very good Sunday evening roast dinners, attentively served. Private, secure car park. Set in the centre of a beautiful historic town.

Cons:

A small point: rooms were at the top of two flights of stairs. I’m 81 and struggle with stairs. I should have asked for a room on a lower floor. There was early morning noise sounding like rubbish bins being put out.
